NEW YORK -- CBS is considering multiple newscasters to replace Dan Rather in the anchor's chair when he steps down in March. Viacom co-prexy-co-chief operating officer Leslie Moonves said an anchor partnership is being considered as part of a broad rethinking of the "CBS Evening News" franchise, and that no candidates have been ruled out.
Connie Chung.
Multiple anchors?
How 'bout Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo?
Agreed!!
Yup, they could do away with the silly desk & put the Bent1 in a rocking chair by a fireplace with "Buddy" at his feet.
Why not?
The "news" -- & particularly at See-BS -- has become nothing more than children's stories, anyway.
In any event there's a proverb here somewhere.
Like say?
..."The more anchors one has the faster they sink." {g}
NO, NO....say it isn't so. A day without Clinton is a good day......
One night there will be a black liberal, than a white liberal, than a woman liberal etc.
I think this is much ado about nothing. We're talking about the worst rated news show year after year after year, on a network that is now as discredited and openly mocked as the New York Times, which is saying a lot. What's really telling about all of this is that the story is published in Variety, an entertainment magazine. Why not just skip the evening news and put on a reality TV show?
One chair, two chairs, three chairs, a dozen.
Where's Gary Condit when you need him?
How about Bert and Ernie?
How about lining up those girls from the Ukraine that do the news topless?
Multiple in Huntley/Brinley mode or in every other day mode?
CBS News ought to just dissolve. We've got 3 other liberal networks anyway.
Multiple anchors... Rather was an anchor to CBS in more ways than one.
Whoopie Goldberg ?
Who cares about SeeBS...
What I would like to see is a FOX commercial channel nightly news hour @7PM local times with Brit Hume & Tony Snow.
Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!! LOL
Semper Fi,
Kelly
Oh that's good Dan. Lemme have a go at it; ahem.....The MSM has their anchors stuck in the liberal MUD!
Yeah well, nobody ever accused me of bein' a writer ;^)
From response on a thread last night on the same subject:
As I see it, Viacom's challenge is a lot larger than putting a real live newshound in the anchor chair if they really want to make some changes at cbs news. Their whole operation revolves around embedded libthink types. From the top down apparently. There would have to be a massive restructuring and pink slips wholesale for them to actually change direction.
Now, there may still be some synapse(s) firing within Viacom management, but institutional "buckwheats" will preclude them taking any substantive action. More of the same is the easy way out for them, and I'm willing to bet they take the easy way out. I hope I dead wrong.
