I could just see that movie, first 3 seconds of the film he`d have Bond blowing away babies and puppies and pushing old ladies down to the ground and kicking them, then he`d drive his car through a mall and squish everyone under the tires.

Actually he's a competent actor who's appeared in several BBC dramas.
I'm in agreement.
The Bond personna has always worked on the combination of suaveness combined with
lethal capability.
This fellow will work out fine for the usual lifetime of an actor filling the
Bond role. (i.e., much longer than for George Lazenby!)
My only fear is that this will open the door for a "Jane Bond"...

I have serious doubts about this. Come to think of it, I haven't seen the last two Bond pictures so I guess it doesn't really matter. That being said, if they insist in going this direction, my recommendation for a black James Bond would be Avery Brooks. I'm thinking more of his character Hawk from "Spencer for Hire" than Commander Sisko from "Deep Space Nine", though.
He's just really cool.

Don't tell me... Mel Brooks is going to direct the next Bond flick. Lookout on top of church: "James Bond is a ni." Man#1: "What did he say?" Man#2: "He said, 'James Bond is near!'"

Bond is a fictional character. I have no problem he changes skin color. Whether the new one is going to sell, time will tell. It doesn't seem to be very well with black Green lantern.
About Colin Salmon, I believe he's in the good-but-short TV series called "Keen Eddie", playing Eddie's British superintendent. He's quite good.

"T[he Broccoli family] told Brosnan they wanted to "go in a new direction"." How about brussel sprouts? They're in the same family, I gather.
(The Broccolis are really the villains behind that smelly vegetable!)

The chance to promote him, while startling, would not be unexpected. The Broccoli family, who are casting the film, the 21st in the series, are said to fear that the films have become anachronistic. Indeed. The producers should throw out the half measures and go for broke. Make "Q" a transexual; transform "SMERSH" into a liberal advocacy group or some other such rubbish; bring back Grace Jones as Bond's new girl; make "M" a muslim bureaucrat; etc. ad nauseum.

His secretary in "Keen Eddie" is about the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Hope she gets some more major roles.

Here's a thought: Have a Charles Robinson spin-off. The concept would be that he decides that he wants to be an agent, so he becomes one. Now I know that the "Jinx" spin-off never worked. However, this one would work better than a black Bond.

Nah - shoulda been Andre Braugher!

I'm a purist. Porsche should not be making SUVs, and James Bond should not be black.
