NPR Reporter Says Christians Should 'Burn' by Terry Phillips, correspondent

Hateful voice mail message to conservative group leads to resignation. A National Public Radio (NPR) reporter has resigned after a hateful voice mail message she left for a conservative group was made public.

Rachel Buchman worked for WHYY in Philadelphia, an NPR affiliate, when she called the offices of the Web site laptoplobbyist.com to express her outrage over an e-mail the group sent to her opposing special rights for homosexuals.

"You're evil, horrible people. You're awful people," she said, identifying herself only as "Rachel." "You represent horrible ideas. God hates you and He wants to kill your children. You should all burn."

Chris Carmouche, publisher of laptoplobbyist.com, said he's accustomed to liberals being offended by his group's moral stands—but added that Buchman's message was over the top.

"We want people to know that this is not an isolated incident," he said. "People have to realize there's not just a media bias, but in many cases there is a media hatred, toward anything conservative, Christian or traditional."

After Carmouche posted a recording of Buchman's message on his Web site, she apologized for "a personal matter that was turned into a public issue."

"Rather than call my journalistic integrity into question," she said. "I decided to resign for personal reasons." Carmouche said it's too late for her professional reputation to be salvaged.

"Conservatives will no longer tolerate the reporting of liberal vitriol as fact," he told The Washington Times. "We will not tolerate the Dan Rathers of the world spoon-feeding the public liberal propaganda. And we will call the 'old media' to account when they make their biases and bigotries obvious and deviate from commonly acceptable standards of journalism."

I think the reason they fired her is her reference to God. Otherwise, she expressed the atheistic message of the Left rather eloquently.
"There's not just a media bias, but in many cases there is a media hatred, toward anything conservative, Christian or traditional."
That's certainly true. And that's one thing that the decent people of America--the vast majority--mean by "moral values".

The "Mainstream Media" has committed professional suicide by sinking, along with the Democrat Party, into the depths of the sewer and becoming a propaganda machine for that same Democrat Party.

They should all resign before the American people fire them all.

"a personal matter that was turned into a public issue."

This phrase is endemic to any unrepentant criminal attempting to explain what went wrong without compromising his criminal ethic.

I was wondering what she looked like, but I figured before long a smart and clever Freeper would find a pic. Thank you for ending my curiosity.

I think listening to NPR is great. Nothing like listening to the ENEMY!

Keeps me up to date with the real anti-american, Christian hating, race baiting kooks!

Also daily reminders of who not to do business with.

Caipirabob, you're right. In fact there seems to be a scripture saying to pray for our enemies. And then something about by doing so, heaping coals. ;-)

sirch, I work with a gay (actually bi) man. He is in a gay relationship. He is also one of the nicest, kindest, cutest men I've ever known. We have a sort of agreement. We've discussed it on breaks and he knows that I disagree with his lifestyle...that I believe it's sin...and that I wouldn't want my son exposed to it. He also knows that I think he's a wonderful man and wish he were straight and living in Christ's will and that I'm praying for him. For my part, he is always kind, helpful, and a good friend to me....we genuinely like each other.

This kind of thing is rare, but it works. Pray with me for my friend. What an asset he would be to the kingdom!!

Color me conflicted . . .

On the one hand, I detest the thought of having supported this woman's "career" with a slice of my taxes. On the other hand, I am appreciative when those who declare themselves enemies of mine point themselves out in such spectacular fashion.

;0)

"Rather than call my journalistic integrity into question," she said.

This is laughable. To liberals "journalistic integrity" means attacking conservatives in every way possible and passing their biased "stories" off as being insightful and objective. Its the worst form of intellectual dishonesty.

She should be careful about what she wishes on others. It could come back to strike home.

Brit Hume mentioned this on FoxNews the other night, during his "Grapevine" segment.

You watch the Grapevine? Here's a fun game my wife and I play every night.

Guess Britt Hume’s Political Grapevine Introductory Adjectives

And now the most “_________” two minutes in television, the latest from the political grapevine:

1. Compelling 2. Engrossing 3. Absorbing 4. Scintillating 5. Captivating 6. Fascinating 7. Engaging 8. Telling 9. Intriguing 10. Interesting 11. Riveting
