According to a reporter for the local Fox 6 channel in San Diego the sailor is taping this for Michael Moore! She's not been able to confirm this with Moore but she's talked to the sailor, Pablo Paredes, at length.

She said he told her he joined because he needed a stable job to support a pregnant girlfriend and that he became suspicious about the military when he found out his prior ship had done a promo tape which included missles fired into Afghanistan. Obviously this has been brewing in his mind a good while. So far as the reporter knews he's at home but plans to find a pro bono civilian attorney and if he can find one he'll turn himself in before he's picked up by the Navy.

Let a few military types run off to Canada, or refuse orders, and it's big news.
