I know the "real" resistance did a great job gathering intelligence and assisting in the invasion. I say "real" resistance because I draw a line between those people in France who were working against the Germans from 1940 onward and those who "rose up" only when the Allied armies were coming down their street.
That's like saying Americans weren't killed by German troops, but by Nazi German troops.
I have nothing but respect for the Free French soldiers. They were willing to fight for their country even though their own government wasn't.
