Three Islamic charities and a suspected fund-raiser for the Palestinian militant group Ha-mas were ordered yesterday to pay $156 million to the parents of an American teenager killed by terrorists outside Jerusalem.
A federal jury deliberated for one day before awarding $52 million in damages to the parents of David Boim, who was shot at a bus stop eight years ago. U.S. Magistrate Judge Arlander Keys then tripled the damages.
But it is uncertain whether the family can collect much money from the defendants, some of whom have had their assets frozen by the government.
Before the trial started, Keys found three groups liable in the death: the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, the Islamic Association for Palestine and suspected Ha-mas fund-raiser Mohammed Salah.
The jury found the Quranic Literacy Institute of suburban Oak Lawn also liable.
The Boims sued under a U.S. law that allows victims of terrorism abroad to collect damages in U.S. courts from groups that furnish money to terrorists.
If the gov froze em, can't the gov give some of the money to these people?
I was wondering the same thing.
Yup, makes sense to me. I think this is a case where the plantiffs actually will get something out of it, or out of islamic defendants, though, of course, it can never pay them back for a lost son.
I'll bet that family is going to be facing death threats, and probably worse. The Islamics don't like people talking bad about their "peaceful" "religion".
Collect before the fatwa.
Hopefully this will pave the way for the righteous bankrupting of Saudi Arabia.
