I could've sworn I saw an article recently that said two thirds were against Turkey joining. Seems to me the unqualified enlargement question is too broad. It's one thing if enlargement means, say, Norway. It's quite another if it means Turkey..

It is depends of in which country they asked this question. In Germany or France people would think about Turkey. In Poland mostly about Ukraine and Belarus. In Slovenia or Greece about Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro and the rest of Balkan countries.
