Troy Gentry is trying to give new meaning to "good ol' boy."
Gentry, half of the hit country music duo Montgomery Gentry, is riding to the rescue of a herd of deer trapped near a Columbia Heights reservoir since the 9/11 attacks. He has told the owner of an 80-acre wildlife preserve in Pine County that he'll pay for the deer's safe passage there.

When's the "season" in your woods? I know of a very eager team of professional "wood rat" exterminators who would like to take you up on your offer, myself included! :)
it's just bow/muzzle loader right now, but in my area, you can't even do that.
Useful household hint: a bow makes very little noise.
"He's gone fishing with me. We've gone on motorcycles. I've been to tour dates with him," Greenly said.
Greenly said Gentry offered to pay for the move after the two discussed the situation. He said that Gentry has a multiyear contract to use the preserve, and that he would deduct the cost of the move from any future payments Gentry would owe.
In anticipation of the deer's arrival, Greenly said he's spent $23,000 to put up higher fences to comply with state law. And, he said, customers have expressed much interest in seeing the deer.
Sounds like they might be moving them to a hunting preserve.
I believe that here in Tennessee, you can shoot deer that are destroying your crops. That is why you find alot of small corn patches in folks' backyards, and a rifle near the back door.
The State Motto where I live: "Shoot, Shovel, and Shut Up!"
The right man for this job is Ted Nugent.
"The right man for this job is Ted Nugent."
I had thought of that. good point. I'd rather get Cat-scratch fever than chronic wasting disease.
Around my parts it's always deer season - with your pickup.
What a fun thread to read as the aroma of venison stew in a slow-cooker wafts through my humble abode. :^)
He can have "ours", too.
The "city herd" is growing at a horrid rate. In a town of 4,000 there are now 70-100 permanant resident deer, and they are regularly twinning; expected to nearly double the herd size again next year.
Being in town, they are 100% out of bounds to hunting; and town officials wring their hands and tell us "there's nothing they can do...".

yeah, most officials (I gather) are anti-bow hunting.
I guess they believe it's more humane to run them down with cars and/or let them starve.
