My Dad fought and was wounded, saving several men's lives, in that horrible battle. He was a Sgt in Yankee Division, Army Corps of Engineers. German sniper took him down after he'd carried 3 wounded men to safety. To this day, he doesn't want to talk about what he did.

The American engineers played a big part in slowing the German advance.

funny you should mention that. my dad was in combat in the pacific in ww2. he never, never, would talk about it, and no one even talked about not talking about it.
thats one of the major things that bugged me about kerry babbling on about his 4 months in vietnam. I couldnt see my dad, who died a bunch of years ago, doing the same thing.
you have to believe guys like our dad's were really into some serious s**t, but I cant imagine my dad claiming, nor did he ever claim, he deserved some kind of special treatment. the idea of him saying"reporting for duty" , like kerry did,is inconceivable. kerry made me barf when he did that.
