He always said it was a love/relationship with Patton. They hated the way he drove them but they also knew he was winning the war by doing it.

He told me many stories about their march north through the blizzard to relieve Bastogne.

That sounds about right. From what I've read, Patton's troops generally liked him, though they hated some of the details, like the neckties. Others didn't like the swearing, but they understood why he did it.

I'm glad your grandfather fought for us all.
