This is "must hear" interview.
If anyone wants to discover how to forcefully and convincingly defend conservative principles against the continuous barrage of negative attention, most of it generated by the media mavens and their political cronies, they need to listen to this man.
In my book, he was just as vital to the dissemination-and eventual acceptance among the American public-of bedrock conservative values as Paul Weyrich, William F. Buckley Jr., Russell Kirk and other pioneers in this field.
Sit back and enjoy.

I read 'Right Turn' a couple of months ago. Picked it up in an airport for a long flight. Interesting book--Viguerie and Franke cover both the right and left alternative media, and do a fair job of it, giving credit where credit is due.

Yeah, I caught that.
Toward the end of the interview he explores how the removal of the Fairness Doctrine allowed for the American version of the Samizdat (alternative media) to blossom.

Terry Gross is very preoccuppied over homosexual issues in this interview. I wonder why the emphasis?
To: SolutionsOnly
God only knows.
Her reaction to the views he expresses about the homosexual agenda however, are very telling.

I'm baffled, baffled I am...why a conservative would go on with her? Baffled I say.

I actually think that he handled himself pretty capably, managing to completely flummox his interlocutor at several points during the course of the interview.
A great contrast would be to the goofy display put on by Bill O'Reilly, when he was interviewed by the exact same person.
Viguerie gets a definite thumbs up for his performance earlier today.

I dunno. I heard the interview, and Vigurie's comment on why talk radio skews right depressed me. He claimed that it the medium favors conservative causes because ideas there are "presented in short, simple terms, based on emotion rather than thought." This guy left me feeling used.
To: Kerfuffle; television is just wrong
I think the point he was trying to get across was that talk radio, in the parlance of Marshall McLuhan, is a "hot" medium.
Whereas the old media rely on passivity and the quiet absorption of facts-even if those predigested facts don't dovetail with reality-by the viewing audience.
The contrast he was trying to make illustrated his main point, namely that talk radio is future-oriented, which benefits conservative ideas in general.

Overall Terry was less snarky than she has been in the past. Still she got in Richard's face more than she does with her pet liberals.

Of course she did; what else would you expect from someone of her ilk?
Did you check out the link to her profile on amiannoying.com?
It was written by yours truly.
Unfortunately, the editors of the website did some bowdlerizing of my original comments.

Listening right now. I heard they'd be interviewing on NPR later, but honestly, I wouldn't have tuned in to wade through the NPR b.s.
Man, is he a great spokesman.

I listened to the interview.
Viguerrie did well, not very very well, but well.
He did mention that the reason Lib talk radio has not been successful is because of their preference for 'nuanced' views on subjects. I coulda screamed when I heard that. First of all, it isn't true, and second of all, the Left always wants to think of themselves as a bunch of deep thinking eggheads, not too quick to jump to conclusions. I think the opposite is true. The Left already has the answers and will jump ugly as soon as they have a chance to spout their dogma and pounce on the opposition.
I dont think Viguerie should have given them this bone to chew on. He should have said, like Rush, that the Left is shrill and ugly and negative and the Left hates America and Americans and doesn't really want to lower themselves to discuss their program. They know if they show their colors, Americans will reject them. That's why they can't succeed in radio talk. .....and of course, they can't sell ads.

Good job on describing Terry. Her tone with conservatives is "how do you defend classifying catchup as a vegetable and malnourishing seniors"
With liberals it's "You care so much about children, what are you doing to increase your outreach?"
