In a purely deductive sense theism may be on equal footing as atheism. But in order to make sense of the real world, we must use a combination of deductive and inductive reasoning.

When thinking about - well, anything - in the world, a lack of a person behind it all pulling our strings is the way to bet. (Otherwise, scientists would have stopped at the first anomaly they encountered, said "goddidit", & went home without discovering anything.)
