Back in the day natural disasters happened and pagans died. But when God struck, a Prophet is first sent to warn and get people to repent. Was this the case?"
Well, actually Jesus prophesied about the end times and earthquakes in Matthew 23. I am not suggesting that God directly controlled the earthquakes, just saying that according to prophesy, this will increase as the "birth pangs of distress" before the great tribulation.
