Friday, Dec. 31, 2004 10:30 a.m. EST Andrea Mitchell: Bush Cabinet 'Not the Brightest'
Never a model of journalistic objectivity, NBC reporter Andrea Mitchell positively outdid herself Thursday night, describing President Bush's Cabinet as "[not] exactly the best and the brightest."
Discussing the White House reaction to the South Asia tsunami disaster, Mitchell asked Newsweek editor Jon Meacham:
"If the president really were to take this opportunity and not only reach out overseas but do big things here, wouldn't you have thought that he would have reached beyond the immediate circle of the White House and brought in more stellar people into the Cabinet?" Before Meacham could answer, Mtichell added, "I'm trying to be very diplomatic here, but this isn't exactly the best and the brightest."
Colin Powell - who's heading up U.S. relief efforts - not stellar? Condi Rice - not "the best and the brightest"?
Ms. Mitchell apparently longs for the days when real political stars guided U.S. foreign policy - like Madeleine "The Incompetent" Albright and Sandy "Light Fingers" Berger.
Even a hairlip can work at NBC.
I wish Sandy Berger was still on the cabinet.
He would have put the Indian Ocean tsunami down his pants, saving hundreds of thousands of lives.
Jocelyn Elders was going to get together with Eric Clapner and design safer bullets.
Well, at least in hard sciences the Nobel caliber people frequently have Nobel sized egos, and that would make such people essentially unmanageable. Not quite what one would want to see in cabinet officers, right?

"Condi should challenge her to an intellectual duel. Or one on pianos."
They'd have to handicap Condi with a 100 pound bag of lead shot, break her pencils, tie one hand behind her back, and induce swelling with a bunch of bee stings to make that a fair race.
Not the brightest? She should have seen Stephanopolous get his hat handed to him by Powell last night. He looked pretty stupid. He was outed last night as far as I'm concerned as a complete media moron.
And if you want to see a cabinet that defines "not bright," look at the freak show Bill Clinton assembled. Between half a dozen of them, I doubt they could muster enough human DNA to make a person. Madeline Albright?? Uh huh. Pinup girl for the East German shotput team. Janet Reno? A partially shaved Wookie. Donna Shalala? An explosion at the recombinant lab. Bill Richardson? Couldn't cut it selling vacuums door to door so Clintoon put him in charge of the country's nuclear policy. Hazel O'Leary? The cow should have kicked HER over.
And the list goes on ...
Go get another facelift Andrea, the last one was a failure.
She does not have the required gray matter to make such a judgemrent. A societal parasite lacks credentials to judge any one, especially not her betters.
Andrea's IQ is probably very close to a cold room temp.
i really dislike her, you know who else i dislike, that bastard Keith Olberman, i would seriosly like to beat him down, secondly what the hell is with the hair? Either go grey or not, you stupid prick!
She's one to talk. She's an awful substitute for Chris Matthews - totally at a loss for off-the-cuff, impromptu questions or comments. And she's so bad on Imus, even he appears to be bored by her.
There's no comparison between that group of East Coast white liberals and the accomplished individuals in the Bush Cabinet who truly worked for their success, such as Sec. Powell, Condi Rice, and Elaine Chao (daughter of Chinese immigrants and former Director of the Peace Corps).
Ms. Mitchell's comments are further evidence of why the blogosphere is growing. As Hugh Hewitt points out in his new book, Blog : "the MSM is very slow and very distrusted."

Um, have you looked at Mineta's bio? The guy spent most of WWII in a Japanese internment camp in Wyoming, graduated from Berkeley, worked in Army Intel, then began a very successful career in public service. You may question his judgement, but his character and intelligence are well documented.
Ignorant cow.
Surely, you meant: Sandy "Sticky Fingers" Berger
Overall. I have been very turned off by the TV commentators" coverage of this disaster. It has been completely tasteless. All they can talk about is whether we are giving enough and whether we are missing an opportunity to look good. That's no way to act when thousands have died and relief organizations are mobilizing. No respect.
