Haven't bought anything from France since before the invasion of Iraq. We love the Australian and Chilian wines we've discovered since then. I don't miss French products at all.

There are quite a few high quality California wines too.

I've found some excellent Aussie wines as well. One of my favs is [ yellow tail ] Shiraz. Wonderful table wine, especially for the price.

As for French wines, although I don't usually do boycotts, I haven't purchased a bottle of my (formerly) beloved Lafite in several years. Excellent wine, but I'll get along just fine without it.

I also quit buying their drinking water, and check to see where my cosmetics are made before buying them

I fly to Asia 2x per year using frequent flyer miles. When I schedule, I tell Delta I'd prefer to go via Europe (better connections) but I refuse to land in France or fly on Air France, a Delta partner, which would shorten my trip by 3 - 12 hours. They understand just fine.

I have been getting some Chilean Cabs that are most excellent. They have reached Cali quality and on their way to surpassing it. And they are very reasonably priced. Some nice merlots and a very tasty syrah also.

You are buying more French goods than you think. They own several hotel/motel chains here as well as Michelan owning BF Goodrich tires. There is a long list of French owned companies. Ever heard of Bic? The list goes well beyond what most of us think.

There is a thread around here on FR which details the list of French owned, or subsidized companies, operating here in the United States.

Me neither. I make a point to tell dealers of french commodities the reasons why.

Italian wines and wines from other more friendly nations are better anyway

May I suggest some wines from Oregon and Washington? We aren't all blue here.

Chile is making some great wines. Even the cheap Concho Toro brand is from one of their best = to mondavi. AFter that the quality goes way up.

Did you you know that 120 is about a myth of 120 soldiers hiding from the enemy in a wine celler? When an overwheming force enter the celler all the troops could not be found.
