I long for a return to sports as they were meant to be and a move away from the ESPN-era sports made for those with an attention span of two seconds.

Raise the pitcher's mound in baseball go back to 1968 baseball when Bob Gibson had a 1.12 ERA.

NFL-let the defensive backs get physical with the WRs again. Football has become more like basketball.

NBA take the mauling and physical play out. Basketball has become too much like football. It is sad when there's more contact allowed on an NBA court than an NFL defensive backfield. I wish they'd outlaw the dunk also. There was only one Julius Erving.

College basketball-get rid of the shot clock, 3-point shot and shot clock along with dunk. The clash of contrasting styles and the impact of coaching set the college game apart. Of course that won't play on Sportscenter.

Hockey-melt the ice in the USA and let hockey go back to what is was meant to be-a regional game for Canadians and northern-tier Americans. Who needs hockey in the South?

Don't forget a salary cap for baseball either.
