LONDON, England (AP) -- Feminist icon Germaine Greer, who baffled observers by agreeing to appear in a reality TV show, quit the program Tuesday and launched a scathing attack on the producers.
The Australian writer and academic left British show "Celebrity Big Brother" after five days of being locked in a house with an underwear model, a teenage musician, a drug-loving dancer and an ex-wife of Sylvester Stallone.
Speaking at a press conference, Greer compared the house to a "fascist prison" and said producers had behaved with "complete irresponsibility" in introducing Stallone's mother, Jackie, to the house.
Stallone's former wife Brigitte Nielsen hadn't met her former mother-in-law since divorcing the "Rocky" star in 1987, after 17 months of marriage.
The two were polite to each other, but once the 71-year-old Jackie Stallone was out of earshot, Nielsen told fellow housemates: "I was so happy, and now I'm miserable."
Greer, 65, who is best known for her radical book "The Female Eunuch," told journalists that "Big Brother" operated on a culture of bullying, and that she hadn't been prepared for the taunting she received from fellow housemate, racing pundit Don McCririck.

Here's a chuckle for you. Do you teach her work in your classes?
"producers had behaved with "complete irresponsibility" in introducing Stallone's mother, Jackie, to the house"
Quote of the Day?
Isn't she the one who has recently been extolling the overwhelming sexual appeal of prepubescent boys?

Reality shows are the human equivalent of cockfights.
Yet another reminder why the most beautiful word in the English language is "No."
Anyone want to bet she went on this show to get material for a book? She had to quit, it gives her the publicity and impetus for a tattle tale type book.
Must be...I thought she was dead...
Yes, leftist philosophy is wonderful till you have to live under it. (Actually, it reeks as a philosophy if you have a particle of common sense, but this is Greer we're talking about, so...)
<< Believe it or not this fool is a highly respected feminist icon. >>
Germaine Greer always was to intellectual activity what Helen Reddy was to song.
Neither of them could fill a pay-'phone box with paying punters in their native Australia and each travelled abroad to find more morons in bigger markets to and fed of those for a while.
Reddy is probably entertaining Alzheimer's patients in the Koala Kangaroo Geezers' Rest Home at the back of Bourke and between flashings and assinine publicity stunts Greer is a two-bit tool screecher [School teacher/"professor"] in a fifth-rate red-brick limey college.

Only, as ever, above the shoulders.
Her early notice came not so much from her dopey "book" as from the public obscenities that gained her notoriety and an arrest record in Australia and a consequential certain quaintness in once-great britain, where the natives like to demonstrate their fantasized superiority over Australians in the most inferior manner -- and actually managed it with Greer.
I'm not sure. I always thought she was a lesbian but I confess I haven't followed her career all that closely.
I have no idea what this Post is about. I dont watch Reality shows. I used to watch Law and Order but the left has ruined that show too.Too liberal for me.
Well, she may be bright, but someone needs to explain to her what the word 'fascist' means.
I never paid much attention to these feminists "icons" in my day. I always thought they were toooo ugly to be serious. Anyway I wanted children, and that made me a heretic to the "movement"
"Older women can afford to agree that femininity is a charade, a matter of colored hair, ecru lace and whalebones, the kind of slap and tat that transvestites are in love with, and no more." ~ Germaine Greer
What a mind! /sarcasm
