The winner is...Dr. Condoleezza Rice!
The losers are...Senators John F. Kerry (again) and Barbara Boxer.
A person is known by his or her enemies as well as his or her friends.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the nomination of Dr. as the next Secretary of State.
No surprise, of course.
The vote was 16-2.
No surprise either.
Two disgruntled Democrats - Senators Kerry of Massachusetts and Boxer of California voting no.
The full Senate is sure to confirm Dr. Rice and, unless one or both of these egomaniacs mounts a filibuster, in time for Dr. Rice to take the oath of office on Thursday, shortly after President Bush is sworn in for a second term.
For Dr. Rice, the two "no" votes are badges of honor.
The support of Senator Kerry, the favorite presidential candidate of the Communist Vietnamese and most of the French, a heretic who pretends to be a faithful Roman Catholic and the man who categorically condemned his fellow Vietnam veterans as akin to the hordes of Genghis Kahn for personal political gain, is hardly something of which to be proud.
Likewise as to that of Senator Boxer, the attention addict who delayed the formal confirmation of President Bush's re-election and was the sole United States Senator to dispute the validity of that re-election.
Senator Boxer effectively called Dr. Rice a liar during her confirmation hearing, and yet said she would work with Dr. Rice on a number of matters.
Dr. Rice would do well to spent her precious time working with those who rightly respect her for serving America well instead of a deservedly failed presidential candidate gearing up for another run like Senator Kerry and an ornery obstructionist and pompous pariah who deserves Senate censorship like Senator Boxer.
Boxer and Kerry are both racists.
Unfortunately, the number of cradle Catholics in America don't see it this way...
Paging Senators KERRY and BOXER! Please report to your own corners to serve you timeout sentences set by your fellow dems for making them look bad.
Fortunately I missed Kerry's questions, but I heard some of Boxer's -- absolutely disreputable and irresponsible.
I wish the chair of the Committee would grow a spine and insist that questions be questions and not rambling, whining statements lasting 20 minutes, or more. By the time they shut up, I couldn't remember the question, but Condi never lost her cool. That is why SHE is going to be SOS and not me. I would have leapt out my chair, vaulted across the table and throttled Boxer and Biden right on national TV! What insufferable boors they are.
The Dems did not aquit themselves very well, IMHO.

Who are you talking about, Mr. Fenchified Jerk? All the Catholics I know agree that Kerry is a heretic and should be excommunicated. What's more, a majority of Catholics voted against him in November.

These two will be heros to dems everywhere. You don't suppose Boxer is being positioned to run for President as a backup for Hillary? Anything can happen in 4 years and they might need a plan B.

You are assuming that cradle Catholics don't understand the Catechism. There are plenty of cradle Catholics who are serious church goers and who saw right through Kerry. That's how Bush picked up enough votes to win by 51%.

That was my intention. Maybe it would be better if I replace cradle-Catholics with the more clear acronym of CINO (Catholics in Name Only).
Does this mean Kerry atually showed up in Washington? I thought he was still flitting about Paris.
