I watched yesterday's hearings, Condoleezza Rice, last week, a couple weeks ago, whenever it was, Alberto Gonzales, and I came away with two conclusions. Number 1, the Democrats on the judiciary committee over there, Patrick Leahy and the boys, seem more interested in defending the rights of Al-Qaeda and Taliban terrorists than they do defending this country. And I watch Condoleezza Rice, and I'm listening to their guys go on and on and on, Barbara Boxer and John Kerry questioning her, and I don't hear one bit of news, not a shred of evidence from these people what they would do to defend and protect this country. All they have is criticism, all they have is whining, mealy-mouthed little criticisms and blame America first-itis. And I'm going to play you a couple of sound bites just to give you a flavor for it. Here's John Kerry in a prelude to his "no" vote. This is a portion of his remarks to Condoleezza Rice lecturing her and setting up his next presidential run in 2008.
KERRY: There isn't anybody in the United States of America who doesn't admire Dr. Rice for the journey she's made, for what she represents. And is she qualified for the job? Absolutely, of course she is, absolutely qualified. The president has a right to make a choice. But our votes also have to count for something.
RUSH: Stop right there. If he'd have just stopped right there and even voted "no," if he'd just stopped right there. But no, he just got through saying, she's qualified, of course she is, absolutely qualified, absolutely, president has a right to make a choice. But, no, there's a pile of excrement out there right in front of him, and since he's a liberal Democrat, he stepped in it.
VOICE: I choose to vote my concerns, not to overlook them. I choose to vote my gut, not custom. I know what custom says, but the fact is that Dr. Rice is one of the principal architects, implementors, and defenders of a series of administration policies and choices that in my judgment have not made our country as secure as we ought to be in the aftermath of 9/11
RUSH: Stop the tape. Well, then why is she qualified? How in the world is she absolutely qualified for the job if she is an architect and implementor and defender of a bunch of choices and policies that have made our country less secure? It sounds to me like that would disqualify anybody from being secretary of state if that's what you truly believe, sir. And then, of course, here came the dynamic close as he repeats his famous mantra from the campaign.
VOICE: --and that have alienated much of the world and certainly much needed allies in our effort to reduce the cost in lives and dollars to the American people.
RUSH: So once again a Democrat in the Senate more concerned with our allies and why they're not there and it's obviously our fault. May I take you back to the campaign? I know you don't want to relive this, but I've got to do this for you. Do you remember when John Kerry, he had a couple different statements, said, "We're going to be out of Iraq if I'm elected in six months, maybe a year," two different times, six months or a year. He also said the French and Germans are going to go in there and support us, they're going to go in there and take over. And I'm sitting here saying, senator, you think you're talking about to nation of dunces? You just got through saying this war isn't worth it, it's not worth it for us to be there, it's not worth it for our loss of life and you think the French and Germans are going to step in and assume that role which is not justified for us? If it's not justified for us, they're not going to think it's justified for them. Why are they going to do this? Simply because of the power of your persuasion? If anybody was doing anything to stoke the opposition of our allies, it was John Kerry and the Democrats and Bill Clinton going over there day in and day out and making speeches to appreciative socialist audiences ripping and roaring his own country to shreds, and John Kerry was essentially doing that during the campaign. And they wonder why they lose.
Now, here's a montage. This is Christopher Dodd of waitress sandwich fame with Senator Kennedy. We have here a montage of senator Dodd talking to Condoleezza Rice, and here once again, you have a Democrat who seems more eager in defending the terrorists of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, who have attacked this country and who want to do so again and who want to attack the Constitution of this country. Here is a Democrat willing to defend them and put a secretary of state nominee on the spot as though somehow she represents the problem.
DODD: What are your views on things like water boarding and nudity, what are your views on that? Is that torture? Let me just come back to the simple question, that water boarding of prisoners in Iraq, of nudity, is that torture? If you saw an American being treated like this, how would you react?
RUSH: Stop the tape! Americans get their heads cut off, you dunderhead! Americans get kidnapped, and they are dismembered, and they get their heads cut off! Those people would be happy if all that happened to them was they were water boarded and forced to run around nude in a pyramid for half a day as opposed to being beheaded. Where's your sense of proportion, senator? And you dare treat this woman as though she's somehow responsible for all this. I ask again, where in the world do we learn from these people what they are going to do to defend this country?
DODD: I'd like you to spend about 15 minutes with John McCain and talk to him about this stuff. I think you could get some good advice when it comes to this subject matter, someone who's been through this, about what the dangers are when we have sort of waffling answers about these questions, then Americans can be apprehended and what happens to them.
RUSH: Yeah, go talk to John McCain, that's the central instruction that all of these senators, I think you ought to listen to this very carefully, I think you ought to go talk to this person, I think you ought to go learn something over there, and it's a all smoke. This is just a bunch of smoke for these guys to pontificate on television, and to have their views heard by their base, so that their base remains happy, but you basically got a bunch of conspiracy kooks that are taking over the Democratic Party, their words and Michael Moore's movie now come out of the mouths of elected Democrats in hearings on the next secretary of state nominee. It's just mind-boggling to watch this implosion. I do so happily, don't misunderstand.
It would have been truly glorious if Rice had stood up and said these words to Dodd.
I give Rice very high marks for having the patience to suffer these fools. I'm still waiting for the day when a Cabinet nominee decides the hell with it and reads these pompous asses the riot act!
I think the closest we will ever come to that was when Ashcroft told the 9/11 Commission that it was Jamie Gorelick who wrote the memo tying the government's hands in trying to prevent the attacks.
DemonRat Senators are a huge pile of excrement.
If a Republican EVER said such a thing to a black Democrat nominee, he'd be accused of the worst kind of condescending racism.
'It would have been truly glorious if Rice had stood up and said these words to Dodd.'
TRULY! and Boxer and Kerry....Condi shows the same restraint and class that Dubya does, although I wish both would take the gloves off a bit more. OTOH, like Rush says, just do the right things and the Dems self-destruct.... Regardless, perhaps we can be sure she HAS a copy handy for her next opportunity? Kristinn?
One of these days, the 'Rats will drag Cheney in and pull this sort of crap on him and Cheney will let them have it!
It's always a pleasure to see the only Senator in history who is an admitted war criminal admonish the ancestor of slaves on human rights matters./sarcasm off
"It would have been truly glorious if Rice had stood up and said these words to Dodd".
I also live for the day when someone does fire back at the idiots. I do not know how they keep from doing it. Class says it all, I guess. Boxer is a disgrace to my state but then, so are the ones who keep returning her to Washington.
Yesterday Boxer asked Condi if she had seen all the photos or tapes from the "torture" session at the prison in Iraq. Boxer announced that she had seem them all and seemed quite proud of that fact. I wish Condi had fired back and asked her if she had seen all of Starr's evidence against Clinton during the impeachment. That would have required a walk across the street to the Ford Building and no democrat was interested in doing that.
I started an email to Boxer but gave up as it wouldn't do any good....I'd only receive the normal "thank you" reply! The woman does not have any shame and is incapable of being embarrassed. WHY are democrat women so shrill and obnoxious? Is it mandated?
The rats are disgusting, and full of excrement.
Jean Francois Cheri " I thought highly of Condie Rice for Secretary Of State before I decided I didn't think highly of Condie Rice for Secretary Of State."
The patience of Job she has...
But tomorrow, I get to see George W. Bush once again take the oath of office for the President of The United States, and I'll smile because the country did the right thing in electing him. But I'll also smile because I know Kerry lost, and all his snide, anti-American, terrorist-supporting colleagues will have to live with a Republican White House, A Republican Senate, and a Republican House of Representatives.
Have fun! (and don't freeze to death)
bttt
those Democrats are just freaking EVIL
