IYADH (AFP) - A Saudi medical team reportedly removed a toothbrush from the stomach of a man who had swallowed it 22 years ago.
According to the official SPA news agency, the toothbrush caused the 70-year-old patient no ill effects until a few days before he was operated on, said Dr Abdulrahman al-Zahrani, the head of the team at King Abdul Aziz Specialist Hospital in the western town of Taif.
The operation was successful, Zahrani added.
Four inch nail in the head, toothbrush in the stomach, what's next...... the old piano up the nose?
A 48yr old man swallowed a toothbrush.
Alrighty...............
"There was an old lady who swallowed a fly....."
I wonder what he was being operated on in the first place. They really never say. ;-)
A Bloomfield Township woman discovered her $3,000 ring missing Monday after a visit by a carpet cleaning crew. The ring showed up -- in a worker's stomach.
Police had the man in custody Monday afternoon after an X-ray at a local hospital showed the man had swallowed the ring.
He admitted putting it in his mouth, police said, so that he could smuggle it out of the house.
"It's a shame," said home owner Tim Reilly."They did a great job cleaning the carpet."
I'm assuming he finally felt pain, they examined and that's when he was operated on. Seems to me that he was operated on to remove the toothbrush.
I didn't get the impression that he was being operated on for something else and they removed the toothbrush. I read it as just the opposite.
Just as an aside, My grandfather had a really bad pain in his back for about 2 years. One day he asked my grandmother to look at his back because something was "sticking" him. It was needle...apparently left inside him from a surgery years before. My dad took pliers and pulled it the rest of the way out. Just some blood (and a little yelling from my grandfather).
"My dad took pliers and pulled it the rest of the way out."
Pardon me while I shriek.
Must have gone through a great number of shirts and sweaters!
