I know you're a Who fan, Chick, but for the rest of you, half of the Who sat through our set when we played at the Troubadeaur in LA back in around 1975. Townsend and Entwhistle sat through the whole set, then slapped me on the back when we finished, saying "Eh, wot? Good show, wot?"
Thanks, I couldn't remember his name. He was darn good, too. Any word if they'll tour again?
Every day I get in the queue (too much, magic bus)

As I drive my baby in my magic bus (too much, magic bus)
OMG!
They're supposedly working on a new album, so they plan to tour after they finish it. :D
Now I'll have that song in my head all day! (I'm not complaining)
They did a pretty long, scorching version at MSG last May -- it was the second encore of the show. :D
At least you got to see them. I feel like popping in the Quadrapenia disc!
I saw them in NYC about six years ago or so, when they performed Quadrophenia in its entirety. It was great. Odd special guest moment too, when Billy Idol and Gary Glitter (pre child molestation arrest) came out and sang the Punk and the Godfather parts.
It was the most homogenized crowd Ive ever seen in one place! 20,000 white guys in their thirties and forties, back in high school for a night. You should have heard us scream, in unision, the line following Her fellas gonna kill me !
The encore was an all acoustic hour and half of the other hits (Magic Bus, Baba OReilly, My Generation, etc.)
Great great show.
Please, he is 60 years old. I think he looks wonderful, and very distinguished.
I'm glad someone said that.
Headbangers, the Who? I don't think so. It's quite possible the term headbanger was not in usage at the time of the 1983 Who breakup.
It didn't have to. Those in the know, knew.
You make me wish there were 20,001. 5:15 performed live is always awesome.
Rock and Roll PING! email Weegee to get on/off this list (or grab it yourself to PING the rest)
"Any word if they'll tour again?"
If they have bills to be paid, we'll see them around for as long as I can forsee. My 13 yr old son recently found a "shweet" song on-line called "Pinball Wizard"...
Just to swing this around to a political thread, please be reminded that Pete tried to brain Abbie Hoffman ("Yippies are Revolting") with his guitar at Woodstock..More to do with WHO controls the stage, than politics probably, but still..
By the way, who/what was Meher Baba (Pete's guru) and did he espouse bad stuff? (My guess is he did not)
Did I tell you I knocked over Jim McQuinn of the Byrds in the "Record Plant" Studio? the walls of that place are all wood and doors are hidden. He came out of a door and before I could stop, I put him on his butt. He's a little guy---I'm only 5-8" and I towered over him.
Anybody who is a Who fan and has not seen "The Kids Are Alright" needs to drop what they are doing and rush out in a buying frenzy and get the DVD. You will NOT be disapointed!
Quadrophenia and an hour and a half encore.
Now that's showmanship.
The Who's performance was the highlight of the 9-11 benefit concert at Madison Square Garden. Actually the true highlight was when H*llary was booed on stage. Roger won't criticize the Queen of England, but the crowd sure did boo the Queen of New York.
I agree. They really rocked that place, got everyone on their feet whooping and hollering. I recall hearing Daltrey say, when they were finished, something along the lines of "I love Americans." It was more of an aside rather than to the crowd. It was genuine.
"Pinball Wizard" is one of my five year-old son's favorite songs. It's a riot to hear him sing it.
