Beware of 'hudnas'
World Net Daily ^ | February 10, 2005 | Hal Lindsey

I am appalled at how quickly the United States is leaping at the same old bait offered by the Palestinians. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, following the orders of our dear but naive president, is shoving Israel toward a disastrous agreement to grant a Palestinian state.

As everyone applauds the "valiant efforts" of Mahmoud Abbas to secure a "cease-fire" from a bunch of terrorist gangs that have sworn they will never have a permanent peace with Israel, it is time to review the sacred Muslim concept of "hudna."

It began with Islam's most revered founder, Muhammad. He declared a 10-year "hudna" with the Quraysh tribe that controlled Mecca. Two years into the hudna, Muhammad had acquired enough troops and arms to abrogate the hudna and conquer Mecca – decimating the Quraysh in the process.

This became known as the "Quraysh Model," which defines the meaning of a hudna. When you are militarily at a disadvantage, declare a "hudna" until you are militarily strong enough to discard it and win the war. This is a Muslim tactic that has been used over and over again throughout history with devastating success.

So while negotiations begin at Sharm el-Sheik between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Abbas, we really need to remember the following historically supported concerns:

* In exchange for a "tenuous ... un-enforceable ceasefire," we are asking Israel to give the Palestinians an irreversible military advantage.

* The "Quraysh-hudna" tactic is something that fits perfectly into the plans of terrorists who have already sworn they will never make a permanent peace with Israel. So I am appalled at how quickly the United States is leaping at the same old bait offered by the Palestinians.

* Once Palestinians have a state, they can bring all manner of weapons and trained militants into the heart of Israel.

* Israel will be forced into indefensible borders and have only one ultimate military option – nuclear weapons.

Daniel the prophet predicts that Israel will be driven into just this kind of a desperate situation. According to Daniel chapter 9, verse 27, this will force Israel to make a covenant with a soon-to-arise Roman antichrist. He will guarantee their security.

Judging by the rapid fulfillment of the entire prophetic scenario for the last days, we could well be within the prophetic timetable for this to take place.

There are certain things that I know are prophetically inevitable, but it is still hard to stand by and watch it happen. If this is the time in God's prophetic timetable I think it is, there will be "a successful" formation of a Palestinian state. But the idea of a permanent peace between Israel and Palestine is a "pipe dream." It is a self-deception for those who ignore the history of the Quraysh-Hudna Muslim tactic. To the followers of the Quran, this is just a tactical interlude in a long-term strategy for the ultimate annihilation of the state of Israel and the return of what they view as sacred Muslim soil to its rightful owner – Allah.

We of the Western world think in terms of about a 10-year historical context for our decision making. Muslims think in terms of a couple of centuries as the context for present-day strategic planning.

In the case of land previously conquered by Muslims, now under the control of "infidels," there is no time limit for the obligation of true Muslims to take it back for Allah. It never means a permanent peace. It is only a tactical interlude in which Muslims rearm for a successful jihad. So beware of the "hudna."

Give the Palis a state; then, if the attacks continue, Israel can declare war and carpet bomb the lot of them.

Hal Lindsey has been tweaking his various prophetic scenarios for what? Thirty or so years? If the Old Testament injunction to stone false prophets was still in effect, Lindsey would be buried under a mound. As a Christian, I think Lindsey and his ilk prey on the gullibility of the faithful, twisting the dreams of Daniel and the revelation of John at Patmos into something plausible enough to sell on the book publishing and lecture circuit. Posting this piker as any kind of expert on Islam gives him an undeserved authority.

It began with Islam's most revered founder, Muhammad.

They forgot the traditional blessing when mentioning the profits name

It began with Islam's most revered founder, Muhammad (piss be upon him)

There that's better!

(BTW use of 'profit' was intentional)

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...

Essentially correct - "hudna" does mean "truce" or "cease fire" in Arabic - and the slimeballs have used it as stated. Achieving their goals is their entire purpose and they care little about the means by which they do so - or the blood shed along the way, both theirs and their "enemy's". (Peace is their enemy, as we all know.)

The author's statement about President Bush being "naive" - well, that may give an indication of the underlying bias here. Our President is not naive; he's optimistic. He understands full well the concept of "Trust, but monitor". He "puts his faith in the Good Lord, but keeps his powder dry", as we say in Texas.

I think the author may be a bit upset at the mere prospect of progress being made in this issue. What are the alternatives though?

- status quo (unacceptable)

- completely eradicate the Palestinians (preferred and possibly necessary, but it'll never fly)

An effort has to be made to end the bloodshed before we go down the road of a wholesale bloodbath...as necessary as the latter may eventually be.

HUDNA - from Arabic, a temporary truce, or a tactical cease-fire

In ironic Israeli slang, a fleeting, cosmetic or unachievable moment of peace

Honest Reporting has a good definition of the Arab/Muslim concept of hudna:

" * In essence, this is religious license to renege on ones word, and to regroup, rearm, and reorganize to attack when ones enemy is lulled into thinking that one will be honest and fulfill ones side of a truce. This is tactic has been used over and over in Islam's history, and is used to great effect today by Yasser Arafat, Hamas, Al Aqsa, and other Islamic terrorists all over the world. Recent examples include Fallujah and Najaf. What Westerners need to do is to read Islamic scripture and learn that in Islam there is no concept of permanent submission to any other power than God's. Treaties mean nothing. Beware the hudna."
