Jury probes effort to smear GOP

Testimony focuses on State Police files and McGreevey's campaign

A state grand jury is hearing testimony into allegations that former State Police officials and a former state senator conducted a covert operation that used confidential files in an effort to smear Republicans and help James E. McGreevey run for governor four years ago.

...A key witness in the investigation, retired State Police Lt. Vincent Bellaran, said in an interview this week he has testified three times before the grand jury in Trenton. In return for his testimony, Bellaran said, prosecutors who report to state Attorney General Peter Harvey agreed not to charge him for his role in the operation.

... Bellaran said he took grand jurors through the key points he had already made both in sworn statements and in interviews with The Star-Ledger. Bellaran said that between 1999 and early 2002, he and Lt. Col. Cajetan "Tommy" DeFeo took confidential information, including personnel orders and medical records stored under lock and key, from State Police files, with the aim of damaging state Republicans and helping McGreevey, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate, in the 2001 race.

Bellaran said the operation was orchestrated by McGreevey's longtime mentor and ally, then-state Sen. John Lynch (D-Middlesex). Some of the information was passed to Lynch for use in legislative hearings into the State Police practice of racial profiling, Bellaran said. Other information was passed to newspapers in an attempt to generate stories aimed at humiliating people close to then-Gov. Christie Whitman.

"McGreevey should be behind bars already but it's coming!"

You fascist homophobe. Jail just because he's a 'brave gay American?" ;^)

In all seriousness, McGreasy and the NJ Rat party are more corrupt than I could ever imagine. The good news: W's DOJ is on to them and they have four years to go. Hehehe...

Liz, NJ Corruption ping (a new one to boot)...

So was it blackmail that caused Whitman's lack of support for Schundler. Probably NOT!

Doesn't matter.

Does anybody really, truly think that Corzine isn't going to breeze into the Governor's mansion next year?

With the campaign cycle just beginning for NJ governor how would you handicap Forrester, Schundler, and Murphy for the Republican candidacy? I notice both Doug Forrester (who I supported in the Senate race against Toricelli), and Schundler are linking outrageously high property taxes to the corruption in Trenton.

It will be interesting to see if Corzine will buy his way into the state house, as I sense a lot of dissatisfaction with the status quo.

Yep. The good part is (as with all mob type investigations) the DOJ is flipping the little guys and working up the ladder. I like it, a lot...

Yeah, Corzine will wage a very $ub$stantial campaign and rely on the NJ rat vote machine. He will be very tough to beat although the "he's buying the Senate seat" campaign did make Forrester's race closer than expected. My hopes is that a lot of democrat voters are getting Zell Millerized with their party. We'll see...

Seems the guy turned over hundreds of pages to the grand jury.

As part of his cooperation with the grand jury, Bellaran has supplied hundreds of pages of State Police documents he copied and stored in his basement. He decided to expose the covert operation, he said, after the 2002 suicide of John Oliva, a white trooper who had claimed racism in the ranks of the State Police. Bellaran said DeFeo, encouraged by Lynch, urged Oliva to go public with his charges, and that led to retaliation that caused the 36-year-old trooper to shoot himself.

This is going to get good.

Dontcha just love it? McGay's craven stupidity is astounding and now he's trying to make a comeback? Gonna speak at Harvard. Probably gonna tell 'em how to corrupt the political system and fellate your gay lover simultaneously.

McGay can thank his lucky stars he has not been indicted......yet....... since he's under several criminal investigations.

Golan Cipel, McGreevey's inamorata, was forced out of the $110,000 job McGreevey set him up in ----as Homeland Security advisor, when it was revealed McG lied to the then-INS, that Cipel's qualifications had been exaggerated, and when Cipel could not get security clearance b/c he was not a US citizen.

The biggest laugh was when Cipel tried to extort hush money from McG and said McGreevey "harrassed" him for sex.

Cipel came to NJ pretending he was a naive rustic who didn't know the gov was gay and was expecting sex on demand in return for the $110,000 state job.

Cipel was a major screw-up, and participated with the corrupt McG admin in depraved schemes to deceive NJ voters. Cipel screwed up his HomeSec job, his Mossad mission, and his sex duties as the gay gov's playmate.

But wait, after his lawyer explained it to him, leech, and professional parasite, Cipel, was prepared to get US justice by looting NJ taxpayers via a lawsuit.

OTOH, McGay fellated Cipel, his voter base, and his big buck donor list, and screwed New Jersey taxpayers, all at the same time.

The gay brigade don't call McGreevy "Big Mac" for nothing.

Cipel said McGreevey constantly "harrassed" him for sex, so he had to do something.

Cipel goes to his job as HomeLand Security chief in disguise hoping to throw McG off his scent.

Know what's different between RAT corruption now and RAT corruption from 1992-96? Controlling legal authority.

McGreevey and Cipel's elitist, unmitigated contempt for Americans is plainly visible in these machinations.

It suggests that they think US citizens fell off turnip trucks and are incapable of figuring all of this out.

That's where they would be wrong.

Cipel was an agent provocateur seeking advantage for foreign governments over US national security, and he ended up poking around the soft underbelly of our political system, aided and abetted by craven McGreevey looking for sexual pleasure, and willing to do anything for it.

That kind of dirty politics is rampant in the Mideast cesspool where Socialistic Darwinism----survival of the fittest----rules----where information is routinely bought and sold for money and sex.............a concept not associated with democracies.

McGreevey amd Cipel ambling off into the sunset while Americans clean up the mess they made of our political system is sickening.

Cipel and McG better get nailed for this or we'll know the reason why.
