Can you hear me now?
Unsuspecting cellphone users may find themselves saying that more often now that cellphone jammers illegal gizmos that interfere with signals and cut off reception are selling like hotcakes on the streets of New York.
"I bought one online, and I love it," said one jammer owner fed up with the din of dumb conversations and rock-and-roll ringtones.

I want a dozen :)
ROFL! That's awesome! I've been saying that I wanted one for years now, and they finally came out with it! I want one!
terrorist attack scenario -- cell phones jammed! is that possible? Honest question!
I'd pay handsomely for something that rendered loud car stereos useless.
What did insecure teenagers do to garner attention before the advent of subwoofers?

Very much so. Also useful for stalkers/psychos - prey can't call for help on their cell phone. OOOPS!
That said, these things are *illegal* to operate in the US without an FCC operator's permit or license.
Of course it's possible. It's also possible they were developed to thwart the Spain/train kind of attacks.
Beats my why anyone would advertise selling these. Can you imagine the lawsuits possible? "I lost a $200M contract because this ahole jammed my conversation and I want $2B in punitive damages, after that I'll go after the manufacturer".
V-8's, Hush Thrush and glass packs and not the juice either, subwoofers are cheaper noise.
Cherry Bombs too.
Or the transplant surgeon on call fails to get the notice that a suitable kidney has arrived, or the sick person waiting for the kidney can't be contacted so they go to the next person on the list. Or someone witnesses a stabbing but can't call 911 because their phone is jammed. Or a kidnap victim can't call for help while trapped in a car trunk. Or so on and so forth....
If you did search before posting and it didn't work right, I understand. It may happen sometimes.
The best way to search to avoid duplicate posts is as follows. Go to http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/search. You may want to bookmark for future use. Use one or more important words (if searching an individual word, it MUST have more than 3 letters) from the title, select "quick" (unless the article is quite old and you seek a thread from more than about a month ago, select "match all words," select "order by post time," and click search.
If the title words are common words and you get too many false hits or if the search results show about 20 threads and do not include results from before the date that the article was available, it's better to use 2, 3, 4 or more words.
If you did not perform a search, please be so kind as to search before posting a new thread. Thanks!

We are asking that you all follow these simple posting rules, search before posting, use links and sources when possible, and excerpt as required. Please take a moment to read. We need your cooperation.

If it's a breaking news topic, check breaking news first, it's probably already posted.
To avoid duplicate posts, please search before posting. The best method to search is to pick a key word or two from the title. If the article you are posting is, "Funny Video, This Land", start with 'Land' for the key word. If it is a hot topic, you might want to use two or more keywords, in this case, try 'Jib'. For an effective search, select 'match any words' and select 'order by post time'.
