Without "scientists", where would "science" be?
What are you a socialist? If I am greedy and pursue only my own self interest, that doesn't make me good. But that doesn't mean that Capitalism is greedy or isn't the best way to take care of the poor or doesn't rise above my weakness. Bad consumers and producers can still result in good economy just like bad scientists can result in good science.
Saying a whole theory of humanity in Europe is unraveling because one guy lied is like saying the whole economy of the US. is going in the tank because one guy stole gum at Wal-Mart.
