IRAQ war wobbler Jacques Chirac scuttled George Bush’s fence-mending trip to Europe yesterday — by cranking up a row over the future of Nato.

He embraced a German-led plot to ditch the alliance as the backbone of transatlantic relations, in favour of the European Union.

He also snubbed President Bush by speaking French at a dinner, despite having fluent English.

I don't know what Bush is up to here but I would not "misunderestimate" him. He is cunning and so are the people around him. I'm sure there's a plan here (oops, ick, now I sound like kerry!).

They way everyone misunderestimates W, I wouldn't be surprised if he speaks French as well as Spanish and he's just sitting back smirking that they think he doesn't understand.

BBC International is already taking The POS's side. Resistance to Bush's "Gllobal Agenda", etc.

Bush will retaliate by talking sense.

Chirac is so low class. He was Saddam's best friend and just can't get over how the president broke that friendship up.

To hell with the frogs, especially Chirac; and just for good measure let's throw in the Belgians.

Haven’t figured out the Bush’s grand strategy yet? It is to keep the dollar low so France and German economics will keep tanking. He knows that the pocketbook will drive their voters toward the right and Chirac/Schoeder will be history come next election cycle. To keep their economies going under, Chirac and Schoeder need sales to China and Iran, which Bush is trying to stop.
