The Democratic National Committee and others who oppose his agenda are already gearing up for what Schwarzenegger has called "a great battle."

4. Send an E-Letter to the Governor encouraging him to keep up the good work and continue to fight for the reform agenda by going to www.govmail.ca.gov
5. Write a Letter to the Editor in support of the Governor's agenda.
Here are some good talking points to use in your letters:
Governor Schwarzenegger has launched a bold reform agenda on behalf of all Californians to make the state a better place to live, work, and raise a family. He's proposed real reforms that will improve education for our children, make our politicians accountable to the voters through redistricting, and ease the financial burden placed on taxpayers by years of reckless overspending in Sacramento. At last we have a leader who's not afraid to stand up to the powerful special interests and unions opposed to improving life in California.
Governor Schwarzenegger is doing the right thing by challenging the status quo and the politicians who stand in the way of reform. The Legislature is playing politics with education and the budget. What they should do is get behind the Governor's reform agenda and make California work for the people, not the special interests.
If the Governor's reforms are not passed into law, the very people who got California into this current mess will be allowed to continue inflicting more damage. We can not let that happen. The people of California need to stand together in support of the Governor's reform agenda. When the special interests voice their opposition to the Governor's reforms, we must express our support for the Governor louder. The Governor is fighting for the people of California and we need to make sure he knows that we are on his side.
The Governor is going to stand up to the special interests and fight to reform California.
The Governor's reforms will put the power of government back in the hands of the people.
Unions and special interests want to keep the status quo because it protects the grip they have on Sacramento.
Governor Schwarzenegger is not afraid to use his political capital to stand up to the unions and Democrats in the legislature to pass his critical reform agenda.
The Governor has the support of the people of California because he has been a strong advocate of reforming politics as usual.
Californians will join Governor Schwarzenegger and show the nation that the unions and special interests will no longer be allowed to stand in the way of reform.
The Governor has kept true to his word that California's children should always come first, and his budget reinforces that commitment by increasing education spending by 7.1 percent.
Under the current budget system, the state will always spend more than it takes in and will never catch up on its deficit. The state can't tax its way to prosperity.
o This year, California took in over $5 billion more in general fund revenues than last year.
o Auto-pilot formulas within the budget system require that the state spend over $10 billion more than last year.
o Because of the broken system, an increase in taxes triggers an automatic increase in spending. That is a formula for fiscal disaster.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

ok.......I just sent a support email to AHH-nold regarding the budget and redistrcting........let's help him push some of this thru....Some may not like him but I honestly believe in these areas he is doing the exact right thing.
>>I honestly believe in these areas he is doing the exact right thing.
Borrow, borrow, borrow. ;-)
I don't like the borrowing any more than you......really, but if it is short term thing this year than so be it...but we better get the spending thing down ASAP or like you infer, it doesn't matter than.....hell, I'm an Investment Broker and would never take this tactic unless for short term resolution.......our revenues are finally going back up so NOW is the time to cut cut cut......
The accumulated amounts, plus more incurred in the next year or so, would ordinarily have to be paid back within 3-5 years. Instead, they want to spread it over 15 years, so they can continue to spend, spend, spend instead of paying for their fiscally irresponsible actions. That hardly is a "cut cut cut" proposition. The net effect is to spend more, not less.
Man, this really sticks in my craw after he signed AB 50, but there's no point in "cutting off your nose just to spite your face".
Gotta help him when he's doin' the right thing, and hit him over the head when he's wrong.
when you say "they", are you talking about the legislature or Arnold's position.......I would pay off any loan as soon as possible.....I don't as much about this as you since you have demostrated your expertise......but I though Arnold, who is an excellent businessman was trying to get rid of some programs......also, didn't alot of the auto spending happen because of ballot initiatives?.....how do we get rid of those so we can raise or lower as we see fit....just curious
I'm speaking of the Keene bill (ACA 4), which is being carried for Arnold and represents his "budget reform" or "spending reform" bill.
I would pay off any loan as soon as possible
So would I. This bill delays it and lets them instead use the money to continue higher levels of spending.
...but I though Arnold, who is an excellent businessman was trying to get rid of some programs......
I have yet to see any substantive cut. He has borrowed more, increased fees, diverted costs to local levels (causing them to increase taxes/fees) all of which has only supported higher spending levels at the state level.
also, didn't alot of the auto spending happen because of ballot initiatives?
The auto spending can happen with things like prop 42 (transportation) and prop 98 (education)... but they have suspended them the past couple of years. It also happens with laws like Prop 49 (after-school-programs) which he initiated and promoted and the LAO is now recommending the legislature put on the ballot to get it rescinded.
.....how do we get rid of those so we can raise or lower as we see fit....just curious
This can't all be blamed on auto spending. If that were the primary problem, he should be fighting to get all of them rescinded by putting them back on the ballot, which he is not. In fact, his reform ELIMINATES the ability to suspend them in the future! Here's a link to the analysis of his budget reform proposal.
According to Arnold when he was hawking Props 57 & 58 it was to be a one time borrowing. Did you believe him? Do you believe it now?
So, what makes you think that, after having raised the non discretionary interest payments in the budget by 40%, the State will have increasing difficulty finding program cuts? So, what now? More borrowing or taxes?
Take your pick, seeing as you bought into this stupid scenario.
I am so happy we have a hands on Governor on the side of the right thinkers, not the feng-sway folks up north in Sacremento. They spend $$ like there is no tomarrow.Well our Governor dose not take any $$ for the great job he is doing with the bag of junk he took over from Gray "spend yours & mine Tax money"Davis. More power to Arnold !!
when you say I bought into this scenario, I'm not sure what you mean....it seems like you like to be hostile at times.....does that make you feel superior or something.. I was asking questions of the other gal.....so I can understand if better....are you just mad at Arnold so you want to be hostile at someone else......I admit that you may know more about this than me...but I'm not sure why you want to come across as you do??????? Do you look into these issues as a hobby or are you linked to this by occupation?
Clearly. Let's take a look at your words.
I don't like the borrowing any more than you......really, but if it is short term thing this year than so be it...
First of all, you obviously DON'T find borrowing as distasteful as CCG does, simply because you are willing to accept that "it might be necessary." CCG doesn't believe that for a minute and neither do I. You are thus buying into the same false sense of urgency that allowed Arnold to borrow $15 billion last year when Davis' shortfall was only $11 billion.
Did you or did you not vote for Propositions 57 and 58? If you did, you fell for the whole "one time borrowing"/"cut up the credit cards" gambit. Arnold was deceiving the public then as he is now.
are you just mad at Arnold so you want to be hostile at someone else.....
In prior threads, you have taken strong positions in support of Arnold's proposals and flung insults at his detractors as if we are so out to lunch that we can't see reality. Then you wonder why you are confronted with facts and called to account for your positions? You call that "hostile"? Cut with the name calling and supply facts with citations to sources. If you can't do that, then change your position. That's what being a FReeper is all about.
Do you look into these issues as a hobby or are you linked to this by occupation?
Doing something about regulatory corruption, particularly regarding environmental law, is part of my occupation. I have published a book on the topic. I am not on anybody's payroll. I don't owe any favors or fealty. Arnold is in it up to his eyeballs, as were both of his two prior predecessors, Pete Wilson and Bray Davis.
ps......also and this is only in a psychological vein, I'm curious. You chose to go at me but not the original poster of the thread, granite, who posted an epiphany about Arnold or another guy who also posted his support....since you want me to learn about FR, what things did I say that agitated you yet not the poster of the thread who said much more on it than I?......that dynamic shows a selective derision which most likely is directed at newer posters..
To answer your question, as the webmaster for the local GOP website, the president asked me to post this "Action Alert" and I complied with her request. It is merely a "Call to Action" for those interested in the cause and was not posted to incite anyone. It provided necessary information for those that needed it. Please do not kill the messenger.
You are mistaken again. I have never seen granite on this forum. I am giving him/her time to learn a bit before holding to account, as I did you. When you started repeatedly singing Arnold's song, and getting rather condescending about it even when confronted with evidence and given ample opportunity to READ it, is when I decided enough was enough.
Won't get my help after he banned .50's. As far as I'm concerned, he can kiss off. I don't help traitors to the US Constitution.
Mike
