Here's my letter to Kenneth Chan of the Christian Post. They seem to be doing everything they can to pretend there is no religious angle to the New Jersey killings. Please write Mr. Chan (kenneth@christianpost.com) and encourage him to dig a bit deeper:
Dear Mr. Chan,
Your article in the Christian post, published under the title "Christians, Muslims call for Unity in New Jersey," only included, that I could tell, a single comment from a single Episcopalian minister, but no updated response from Coptic clergy in the area. Did I miss something?
Have you pressed federal and local authorities for an update on the possible Religious animosities motivating the crime? You and your colleagues represent the best hope the Armanious family has for justice. If the crimes were not religiously motivated, and were the acts of vicious street thugs, why are there no police sketches, no fingerprint IDs, in short, no suspects?
I hope you will forgive me, but passing off a brunch confab between Anglicans and Muslims as a "call for unity in the community" sounds something like two wolves calling a press conference in the chicken coop.
"America stands for freedom of faith and worship," said Mohammed Younes, president of the American Muslim Union, which hosted Sundays event. "It is time for all of usJewish, Christian or Muslimto stand up against anyone that tries to separate us by our beliefs."
Just because Mr. Younes' beliefs are in a religion that justifies murdering Jews and Christians, it should not cause any kind of separation in the community, right? Especially when the religion carries out its commission within the community.
But hey, don't let the fact that they hate your guts and believe you should die a horrible death skew your opinion of them....
Pardon bumping my own post, but does anyone else here think it strange that four Coptic Christians get their throats slit in their New Jersey home and we hear no mention of suspects? If the authorities don't claim a religious motivation, I have a number of questions: are home invasion murders of this type common in New Jersey? Are the New Jersey police following any leads? Would four muslims being killed in this manner inspire greater federal involvement than we see here? If this is the work of common thugs, what is the state of the forensic evidence? Does anyone else think it strange that this story is WILTING ON THE VINE?????
