The Associated Press
ALAMEDA, Calif. Randy Moss arrived in a limousine escorted by seven police officers on motorcycles when he showed up at the Raiders' offices Wednesday the day his trade from the Minnesota Vikings was official.
I've still got love in Minnesota, Moss said during a news conference. But with the Oakland Raiders, I get a new start and a chance to go to the Super Bowl.
The Raiders were working feverishly to restructure his base salary of more than $7 million for next season to get it into a more cap-friendly signing bonus to be prorated over future years.
Moss said he was nervous at the news conference, but he was already comfortable with Raiders' catchphrases.
Who wouldn't want to be in the Silver and Black, Moss asked. I'm committed to excellence and I just want to win, baby.
The Raiders also were close to signing free-agent running back LaMont Jordan, who was in town to meet with the team.
We have a deal in principle that he should sign tomorrow morning 99.9 percent sure he will be a Raider, Jordan's agent, Alvin Keels, said in an e-mail Wednesday.
Moss, 28, will provide a huge upgrade to an offense determined to return to the high-powered vertical passing game of years past so preferred by owner Al Davis.
I don't see this team slipping with the addition of me. I just see them adding more firepower, Moss said.
Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil concurred last week when the trade was first discussed.
When he's right, he's the best in the game, Vermeil said. We're already looking at a cornerback to be a starter in free agency. There's no match for Randy Moss. He's that good, that dominant.
What a self-important twerp.
the Vikes made an 'addition by subtraction' in losing this
turd.
When did Vermeil become the coach of the Raiders? I just can't picture that.
That will certainly be a change from his attitude in Minnesoooota.
Silver and Black. Go Raiders!!!!
I'm committed to excellence and I just want to win, baby.
Except, of course, in his personal life.
Vermeil the Raiders coach? I missed that, too, and I live here.
If there is any justice, this creep will never see a Superbowl, much less a Superbowl ring. Believe me, this creep is as almost as low as pro football can go. It's such a shame when talent is eclipsed by such a lousy personality.
Oops, it says "Chiefs" coach. Think I'll go slinking off now.....
Who? Moss or Al Davis?
If the twerp fits.
If the twerp fits.
I'm committed to excellenceSure Mossy... that's why you've been quoted as saying that you take plays off.
This POS couldn't block to save his momma's life.
OOPS sorry about the double post.
Next time, he'll just shake his d*@#.
I have it on good authority they were Minnesota cops too!
