Moore now getting less (Michael the beloved, NOT)
The San Francisco Examiner ^ | February 28, 2005 | Kathleen Antrim

Posted on 03/04/2005 6:39:25 PM PST by neverdem

First, Michael Moore threw his creative weight and his celluloid into defeating President Bush's re-election. Then he made a big push for an Oscar nomination. He lost on both counts.

Why didn't the former golden boy of Hollywood who championed the anti-war, anti-Bush, anti-America movement with his dishonest propaganda piece "Fahrenheit 9/11" garner an Oscar nod? Is the Hollywood crowd wising up to the limited appeal of extremism, or has Moore worn out his welcome?

With characteristic zeal, Moore campaigned vigorously for a best picture nomination.

"He was at every Oscar party and screening," said Moore's former manager Douglas Urbanski, a critically acclaimed 25-year veteran of the entertainment industry most recently known for the movie "The Contender," starring Gary Oldman, Joan Allen and Jeff Bridges. "He took out full page ads, cut his hair, bathed and even wore a suit. [Moore was] very present around town."

But the Hollywood elite turned up their surgically sculpted noses at Moore's flick. Urbanski explained that Hollywood has had it with Moore. Many blame him for provoking conservative voters and contributing to John Kerry's defeat in the presidential election. He's become the No. 1 favorite target of leftists.

"In certain [Hollywood] circles he is a shutout," Urbanski said.

Why would Moore's former manager be so forthcoming in his criticism?

"Michael Moore makes a substantial living going into peoples' private lives. Sneaking up on them," Urbanski said. So Urbanski feels no compunction in talking about the only client he ever fired. In fact, he fired Moore with a 10-page letter.

"A more dishonest and demented person I have never met," Urbanski wrote me in an e-mail, "and I have known a few! And he is more money obsessed than any I have known, and that's saying a lot."

Urbanski believes that Moore hates America, hates capitalism and hates any normal concept of freedom and democracy. This seems odd, considering that if it weren't for America, freedom and capitalism Moore's brand of expression and capitalistic success would be impossible, if not illegal.

"Michael Moore could not withstand Michael Moore's scrutiny for more than 15 seconds," Urbanski said.

Has Hollywood figured out what Moore is really about? Was that why he was snubbed?

Urbanski has given some thought to Moore's methods. "Moore has an interesting racket. A Jesse Jackson-like shakedown. He figured out he could shake down his own type of thinker, his own constituency, for his own enrichment."

Did Moore lose his golden boy status because of Kerry's defeat? The land of Hollywood is harsh, and they have been known to devour their young for lesser offenses. Or was it his nasty methods that did him in?

History is known to be the best indicator of future behavior, so Hollywood should beware. Moore may turn his camera on them. Maybe he'll call the film, "Hell Hath No Fury Like a Narcissist Scorned."

Regardless, let's hope that the Democratic Party will be more discriminating of whom they seat with a former president like Jimmy Carter at their next convention. And hopefully we'll all wise up to snake-oil hucksters such as Moore, who will say or do anything to make a buck.

Urbanski believes that Moore hates America, hates capitalism and hates any normal concept of freedom and democracy.

A belief, re: Moore, shared by every sober, non-lobotomized individual over the chronological age of nine in this country.

(Note, please, that the qualifiers "sober," non-lobotomized" and "over the chronological age of nine" immediately disqualify any/all liberals from consideration, right from the proverbial git-go.)

It would be mighty interesting to see some up and coming barracuda do a Moore style "documentary" on Moore.

CBS hit piece giving laudatory remarks about standing ovation from DNC crowd at premier showing

"But last night the city's political heavyweights -- well, the Democratic ones, at least -- greeted Moore with open arms as they turned out en masse for the Washington premiere of his new film Fahrenheit 9/11. Packing the Uptown Theater to the rafters, about 800 people -- including South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle, Florida Senator Bob Graham, and Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, to name just a few of the prominent Democrats in attendance -- took in Moore's two-plus hours of Bush-bashing, applauding throughout and giving Moore a standing ovation when it was over"

It's been done. IIRC, it's called, "Michael Moore Hates America".

-----------------------

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Where does the MSM/Newsprint Division get off pointing the finger at Hollywood? Columnists the nation over were tripping over themselves to give F911 a thumbs-up when that POS came out last summer. The MSM talking points, passed from reporter to reporter, paper to paper, went something like this: "....F911, although factually incorrect in places, is still an important film to see...". Yeah, it's always important to see blatant propaganda. Now the press is hip to spit on their Golden Boy now that their smear tactics have failed.

Reporters/"journalists" are just carnies with degrees.

*I am actually laughing out loud!*

"Hollywood" (and pretty much everyone else) knew all along that everything about moore was and is disgusting, dishonest and obscene ~ he merely served as a useful idiot who willingly spun wretched lies to feed the fire of hatred the Dem's relish.

....Moore's former manager Douglas Urbanski, a critically acclaimed 25-year veteran of the entertainment industry most recently known for the movie "The Contender," starring Gary Oldman, Joan Allen and Jeff Bridges.

'The Contender' was arguably the most disgusting piece of left-wing propaganda produced by Hollywood prior to 'Fahrenheit 9/11'. Maybe that's why Urbanski is miffed at Moore.

Effing brutal!!

My favorites:

"He was at every Oscar party and screening," said Moore's former manager Douglas Urbanski...He cut his hair, bathed and even wore a suit."

Polishing a turd. Perfuming a pig.

"Many blame him for provoking conservative voters and contributing to John Kerry's defeat in the presidential election."

LOL! He's right!

"A more dishonest and demented person I have never met," Urbanski wrote...And he is more money obsessed than any I have known...Urbanski believes that Moore hates America, hates capitalism and hates any normal concept of freedom and democracy."

Discerning observers realized this long ago.

"Michael Moore could not withstand Michael Moore's scrutiny for more than 15 seconds," Urbanski said.

Ditto for the rest of them.

"Urbanski has given some thought to Moore's methods. "Moore has an interesting racket. A Jesse Jackson-like shakedown. He figured out he could shake down his own type of thinker, his own constituency, for his own enrichment."

Interesting analogy. Spot on.

Thanks for a very enjoyable post.

Shows just how out of touch these limousine libs really are. Six months ago, Michael Moore was billed as the crusading everyman, out to expose truth, deliver justice, and embrace the American way by these very same people. Now, he went a little too overboard with it, and his name is mud on the left coast. I especialy liked this little tidbit:

"Moore has an interesting racket. A Jesse Jackson-like shakedown. He figured out he could shake down his own type of thinker, his own constituency, for his own enrichment."

I've thought pretty much the same thing since F911 was released, and all I could do was snicker at the people who were imploring people to see it so they could 'see the truth exposed'...my lib brother-in-law being one who 'dared' me to see it. LOL!! This article is already in his inbox!! LOL!! Libs are idiots!

This isn't the lefty paper. The SF Examiner is a remnant of the old Hearst paper, now owned by a local interest.

Michael Moore is a great filmmaker and the very soul of the Democratic Party. Not even Howard Dean represents what Democrats stand for as well as Michael Moore does. This woman is just envious that she's not fat and ugly like Michael is.
