The rarefied world of investment banking was stunned yesterday by the mysterious murder of Swiss banker Edouard Stern, scion of one of Europe's richest families. The bullet-riddled body of the 50-year-old financier known for his nasty temper and ruthless deals was discovered inside his locked Geneva penthouse atop a super-secure building that houses a police station on the ground floor.
Geneva's chief investigator Michel Graber said there were no signs of a break-in, leading police to believe he let his killers inside the building, which is equipped with security cameras throughout.
Swiss authorities clamped a lid on the murder probe, and declined to say whether the pistol used in the slaying came from Stern's elaborate collection of weapons at his posh bachelor apartment.
Insiders in Geneva called the slaying an assassination.
"He had a long list of powerful enemies in his personal life and his professional life, all capable of hiring the best assassins," said one source.
French daily Le Monde said Stern's recent real estate dealings with shadowy Russian and Eastern European figures may be linked to the slaying.

--> I wonder if a crooked Donut got to him?
Stern seems to have been a real piece of work. I wonder how many of the mourners at his funeral will be claques?
My travel documents verify no recent visits to Geneva.
YAWN!!!!!
So what information was he going to spill?
Bush did it.
This sounds like a case that happened a few years ago where some high-flier in finance was murdered in his own apartment. There were several threads about it on this forum.
Ever wonder why no one ever attacks Switzerland? Because that's where all the bad guys keep their money.
"Because that's where all the bad guys keep their money."
That is correct, all sides keep what they loot from their countries and other countries hidden from sight.
When Felix Rohatyn says you're a piece of sh**, you're a piece of sh**.
Talk about making enemies in high places. This guy made enemies in high, middle and low places.
Edmund Safra maybe. He allegedly rana money laundering bank in the US. HS sold it and made some enemies. Died in a fire that was blamed on his servant but evidence pointed elsewhere. Simon Moglivich was said to involved.
Any more details on this case?
OK, you're cleared. But where were the Clintons when it happened?
Partying with Marc Rich I expect.
The deceased.
Is Ted Maher still in prison?
