Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed two East Bay residents to the board overseeing the agency that operates the state's electrical power grid. Elizabeth Lowe, 41, of Danville has served as vice president of Onsite Energy Corp. since 1997; earlier she was vice president of Western operations for DukeSolutions, Inc. Lowe is a member of the Power Association of Northern California, the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses and the California League of Food Processors. She is registered to vote without a party affiliation.
Mason Willrich, 71, of Piedmont was president and CEO of PG&E Enterprises before becoming an independent consultant advising clients on energy matters since 1996. From 1996 to 2002, he also served as a partner with Nth Power, a firm that invests in energy firms, and from 1998 to 2003 he was director of Evergreen Solar Inc. He's registered as a Democrat.
Schwarzenegger named them to the Independent System Operator Governing Board, posts that require Senate confirmation and carry no salary.
The California ISO is a not-for-profit public benefit corporation based in Folsom that serves as the impartial operator of the state's wholesale power grid, charged with maintaining reliability and directing traffic on the transmission superhighway that connects energy suppliers with utilities serving the state.

FYI, Onsite Energy Corp was a penny stock company, quoted on the OTC-BB, brought to you courtesy of Westar Capital (and Westar Energy, Inc fka Western Resources). They reported to the SEC from 1997 to 2003. They had an accumulated deficit of over $30 million, while having paid out over $20 million in stock options (of which Lowe was a recipient). When the SEC questioned their accounting and required them to submit a restatement of their financial statements, they fired their accountants. Shortly thereafter, they terminated their registration with the SEC and disappeared into oblivion. IMO, it's just another shell game brought to you by associates of Orange County's New Majority (Argyros, et al).
