Bad day for America and the GOP that this lousy MBNA-purchased bill was passed by the Senate.

It's a matter of principles, not politics.

MBNA are no better than shylocks. If you are late once in 5 years, they raise their interest rates to 28.99%. This is a bad bill, and FReepers are cheering for it. MBNA would slit FReeper throats for a dollar.

I agree with you. It's a bad bill. It's a shirking of responsibility. They didn't deal with the abusive tactics of the credit card companies.

Pay off every month. Don't let the bastaads -- the credit card companies -- charge you interest. I agree they're pirates, but I'll take their 30-day interest free loans any day. It's when you borrow longer than that -- and let them stick you with interest and jerk you around -- that you're asking to get suckored.

This is going to come back to bite the Republicans in the ass. Big time.

And I for one can't wait to see that happen.

This sucks, actually.
I cannot believe the Republicans piled on this.
Our founding fathers had good reasons, scriptural, moral, and otherwise, to allow for the relief of bankruptcy in our free republic.
Although I am sure it happens, I have yet to meet a person who declared bankruptcy for whom it was "easy."
They were devastated financially.
Bankruptcy was their only hope of ever making it again.
Screw 'em, huh?

Dead on. The loan shark crowd just hired themselves some new leg breakers.
