Hope you're feeling better and I also hope you don't try to do things like hanging curtains yourself anymore.

Thank you!!!!! I know I can call my handy man, but I wanted it done Wednesday night. Too late to have called him. Plus I have to pay him (heheh) so did it myself.

My time on the net is kinda limited right now, because I am spending a lot of time in bed watching TV with the heating pad attached to my back. HATE this.

I like to be able to move about when I WANT too. This sucks.

Back pain is right up there with the worst of pains, let me tell you!!!! But, it will heal, thank God.

Hey, lady. I have a buddy here at work who doesn't believe me when I say that jobs are lost when smoking is banned in private businesses. You wouldn't happen to have anything I might be able to print out for him to read?

Well, I have a generic lower back disease.  My tail bone is trashed.  There is nothing they can do for it.  I haven't heard of a tail bone transplant yet, have you? LOL!

It will just get progressively worse with age.

In December of 2003 was the WORST I suffered.  I put the trash out on a Thursday night and when I awoke Friday morning and went to get out of bed, I screamed and literally hit the floor!  I could not stand up. (I thought that I had turned funny when I was throwing the bags of trash out).  I had to crawl moaning out to the kitchen to get to the bathroom.

I pulled myself up to the counter to get a cup of coffee to nuke.  Doing my best, I made it back to my bed.  Over that weekend, my bedroom was a sorry mess.  I would crawl out to the kitchen to throw together sandwiches and get more coffee.  Putting a pot on just about killed me.  But I got the food back into the bedroom, but didn't have the strength go return the dishes back to the kitchen.

By Monday, I was almost back to my old self.  But it was a nightmare.  Thank God, it wasn't that bad this time!!!

Sorry to hear about your back trouble, She.
Did you injure it reaching for a lighter? (/sarcasm)

If she did, then it's just one more health issue caused by smoking. (I'm just kidding, ladies.)

Take care of yourself, for heaven's sake and make sure your phones are ALWAYS within reach, night and day.

I'll be thinking of you and will even toast you with my morning coffee and smoke.I would be one of those crawling to the kitchen in agony to get to the caffeine too. LOL

THE REAL FACTS OF THE SMOKING BANS IMPACT ON BUSINESS'S
The Facts

CALIFORNIA: 5-year-old ban in bars leaves owners, customers fuming

NYC's Bar Business: Up In Smoke?

23 December 2002

As a manager of a Manhattan bar, I can easily point out the dramatic drop in business which will occur when the ban commences. Not only is my bar going to lose business, but how about the extra security that I'm going to be forced to hire to control people outside of my establishment when they go outside to smoke? Or what about the noise complaints I'll receive due to drunken smokers chatting outside at 3 a.m.?

Smoking Bans Burn Business (In Delaware)

15 December 2002

Dan McAvaney, owner of McAvaney's Pub on Kirkwood Highway, said small bar owners have no choice but to fight.

"Another couple of months of this," he said pointing to a nearly empty bar on a Thursday night, "and we go out of business."

Smoke claim disputed

November 7, 2002

Dr Proctor said passive smoking could cause problems for asthmatics and there were people who did not want to be exposed to cigarette smoke but there was no scientific basis for a ban in public.

Restaurants Fighting Proposed Smoking Ordinance (Albuquerque, N.M.)

Restaurant sales taxes in Tempe tumble in June

The Arizona Republic Aug. 13, 2002

Bar owners say they continue to be hit hard, with sales down 20 percent to 40 percent since Tempe went smoke-free.

"We don't get any new customers saying, 'We're thrilled because there's no smoking,' " said Michael Cuneo, owner of Ball Park Pub.

Non-smoker Armando Kiyama, 29, a Tempe artist, said he is ambivalent about the ban."I'm glad I don't go home and smell like smoke anymore," he said, adding, "I don't think that it's right for businesses to have their choice taken away from them in their own facilities."

Smoking Ban Puts Restaurant Profits Up In Smoke/They Finally Admit It!

Boston - June 18, 2002

Restaurant owners said that they've lived with these new regulations for three months with devastating consequences.

"I would say we lost 30 to 40 percent of our business right off top since March 1, and it happened that day," restaurant owner Mike Difeo said.

California Smokers Use Prohibition Tactics to Get Around Ban

While cops try to sniff out the worst offenders, in many cases they're butting up against organized opposition. Bartender phone trees warn each other of impending busts, powerful fans blow away tell-tale scents of "smokin' in the boys room" and tin cans double as ashtrays in case of an unexpected visit by police.

SMOKING BAN IMPACT ON CALIFORNIA RESTAURANTS

That is the real impact of the smoking ban. So if you hear of anyone saying that the smoking ban in restaurants and bars does not hurt anybody, you can quote my figures, which are based on the official reports issued by the State Board of Equalization here in California.

Houlton, Maine Smoking Ban

"I've never seen it like this before," Drake, a smoker, said Wednesday. "It's like all the customers just disappeared." The smoke has vanished into thin air, but so have the patrons.

"I can't believe that the state did this," Rick Kelley, owner of Ivey's Motor Lodge, said late last week. "The state really made a backwards move."

Coalition leaders said the higher tax would make cigarettes increasingly difficult to buy, especially for youths.

Making it more difficuly doesn't mean less smoking, especiaaly for youth.

You have complete control over how much tobacco tax you pay, unlike the other taxes.

Oh don't worry! I only pay a 25 cent surcharge for each bag of tobacco I buy. Not paying all that money into the state coffers for the past 4 years has been WONDERFUL!!!

Your labor is a cost.

I don't mind at all. And I ordered 10 hard plastic flip top cigarette cases from Ebay in all colors to match all of my outfits.

The savings alone is worth all of it!

Hiking taxes on cigarettes is one thing, collecting the taxes is another. With a growing number of smokers getting tax free cigarettes through mail and internet, as cheap as $1.25 per pack, the taxes in place are becoming easy to skip keeping the cost of smoking to a minimum. More attention needs to be brought to these tax cheating methods than changing the tax amount

That's why we are working hard to get the word out.   There is no need today for the Maine smokers to pay that enormous state tax any longer!  Let's all roll our own, and really stick it to Baldacci and the lawmakers.  heh!

No need to roll, there are plenty of mail order options. You can pay as little as 1.25 per pack...No taxes. Allot of people in Maine are catching on to this and there is not any real regulation of these type of sales. You don't even need internet access to order.

I don't mind rolling at all.  I have done it for 4 years now.

What I like about the loose tobacco is that it doesn't have all the added "stuff" that the tobacco company's add to their cigarettes.

Anti-smoking advocates came to the State House on Wednesday to ask lawmakers to increase Maine's cigarette tax by $1.50 cents a pack

Shouldn't they be called Pro-smoking activitists?

Carfull there. Just because the vendor doesn't collect the tax doesn't mean you are not liable to your home state for the tax. Mail order and Internet are targets for states right now.
