LONDON - The wedding of Britain's Prince Charles to Camilla Parker Bowles, already hit by several glitches, will go ahead on Friday even if it clashes with the funeral of Pope John Paul, a spokeswoman said on Sunday.
Clarence House said the date of April 8 had been set for some time and they had not considered postponing the wedding.
"If the funeral falls on Friday, the wedding will still go ahead," a spokeswoman said of the heir-to-the-throne's plans.
The pope's funeral was expected to be held between Wednesday and Friday.
Buckingham Palace said they had not decided yet which royals would attend the pope's funeral, if any, but royal biographer Robert Lacey said Queen Elizabeth would be unlikely to attend.

Please. The wedding has been planned for months. The Holy Father doesn't have to be buried on Friday, indeed, MSNBC reported yesterday that the funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday.
Well, good taste hasn't stopped them before.
The search missed the duplicate thread. Please pull mine.
Camzilla must be annoyed her wedding to whippin boy won't be top of the social snooooooze .......
NO, no...yours isn't a duplicate - just a different source! Just thought you'd want to see other commentary on the subject.
I wish people would stop commenting on Camilla's looks. Not everyone is beautiful.
I think they're making a big deal over nothing. As you say, the wedding has been planned for awhile. And besides, he's the divorced future head of the Church of England (which is nominally against divorcees remarrying) about to marry another divorcee, with whom he committed adultery for years. If I were him I wouldn't be attending, either. Not that I personally have anything against Prince Charles, but facts are facts. The Queen is the head of the Church of England. Indeed, it's illegal for a Catholic to be the monarch of Great Britain. No offense to the queen, it's just the way they have things set up over there, but it makes for a delicate situation in this instance.
The MSNBC story was from Reuters, so it is the same even though it may have been edited a little differently.
Charles the Last is to have his non-sacramental union with his lifelong mistress on the same day as the funeral of the Great Man of God? I don't think it matters what the House of Windsor/Battenberg/Mountbatten does. I pray for the sake of the UK and the Commonwealth that he never comes to the throne and that Prince William succeeds his grandmother as monarch.
I am sure those who complain about Charles will also be doing their own things on what ever day. I doubt very many will miss as much as a cup of coffee over either event
I think it's just an excuse for the Press to get their knickers in a twist. In a perfect world, Charles and Camilla would have married years ago. IIRC, it was the fact that Camilla was Catholic that put the brakes on the idea of she and Charles marrying.
I am pleased for them. They have quite obviously had a love for each other that has lasted more than 30 years. The rest of us should be as lucky. I am sorry for all the mess in between. But life is messy.
It amazes me why the royal family is so perplexed by their unpopularity. They are a financial albatross and no longer provide any meaningful purpose.
Is Camilla Catholic? http://santificarnos.com/santiblog/index.php/english/2005/02/14/okay_so_camilla_isnat_catholic_and_herea
Lol, no problem, because very few are likely to attend the ceremony in the first place.
He wasn't commenting on her looks. As for the wedding reception, may I suggest bales of hay, carrots, apples, and fresh oats. Wouldn't want Camilla off her feed....
By church tradition, he must be buried sometime between Wednesday and Friday. 2000 years worth of tradition should weigh more than a couple of months notice!
I know that. It was announced that the funeral was to be held on Thursday.
Flush the monarchy. What a joke...
