"The Eucharist detailed in the eBay auction was given to Msgr. Augustine and has been properly disposed of according to the dictates of Catholic Church law," states a diocesan press release. Thank you, Monsignor Augustine!

Fraudulent Auctions.

It would be nice if this Host could be used for Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration, but as there is no way to verify that this Host was actually consecrated, that probably wouldn't work out.
I wonder if there is such a thing as conditional consecration (in other words, if This is not consecrated, It would be consecrated, otherwise It simply remains consecrated).

(Just my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary.)

I was really disgusted that EBay would not pull it. Even if they think it's laughable that we believe that consecrated Host *is* the Body of Christ, you would think the fear of offending others would cause them to pull it. Instead, they were defiant.
Sh*tting on Catholics remains the one acceptable form of bigotry in this country.
To: NYer
Being they turned it over to the church, I think that was a totally class act ending to all this.

"As I said earlier this week, the Eucharist represents the true presence of Jesus Christ to Catholics..."
I'm glad Monsignor Augustine took action in this issue, but quite frankly the above statement disgusts me, it's essentially blasphemy. The Eucharist does not merely represent the true presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ to Catholics; the Eucharist IS the body and blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ, merely under the APPEARANCES of bread and wine. This is the root doctrine of the Catholic Faith and I'm extremely disappointed that the Monsignor would use such weaselly words to describe it.

This is what can happen after it's allowed to receive Holy Communion on palm not directly to mouth.
