I would trust my husband, and I would greatly like there to be an option for him!!!!

Of course, I would remind him to take it.

Most women won't trust a man to wash his own laundry, and they are going to trust him to take a pill every day?

Whether they do or not, men can now prevent their "manipulative" partner from setting them up to a life of penury. Wihtout their consent, that is.

Do women really want a male birth control?

Some do and some don't. Depends on the woman.

It's like giving women the vote. Things didn't really change all that much. It just created new excuses!
Some women still blamed others for their problems.
Bottom line: It's really all about having backbone and taking responsibility for one's actions.

If all men have access to their own pill there will still be weak, woosy wo/men and deceiving, manipulating wo/men. Nothing will change but the new innovative excuses for not doing what's right.

When The Himalayan peasant meets the he-bear in his pride,
He shouts to scare the monster, who will often turn aside;
But the shebear thus accosted rends the peasant tooth and nail,
For the female of the species is more deadly than the male.

When Nag the basking cobra hears the careless foot of man,
He will sometimes wriggle sideways and avoid it as he can;
But his mate makes no such motion where she camps beside the trail
For the female of the species is more deadly than the male.

When the early Jesuit fathers preached to Hurons and Choctaws,
They prayed to be delivered from the vengeance of the squaws.
'Twas the women, not the warriors, turned those stark enthusiasts pale,
For the female of the species is more deadly than the male.

Man's timid heart is bursting with the things he must not say,
For the Woman that God gave him isn't his to give away;
But when the hunter meets with husband, each confirms the other's tale-
The female of the species is more deadly than the male.

Man, a bear in most relations-worm and savage otherwise,-
Man propounds negotiations, Man accepts the compromise.
Very rarely will he squarely push the logic of a fact
To its ultimate conclusion in unmitigated act.

Fear, or foolishness, impels him, ere be lay the wicked low,
To concede some form of trial even to his fiercest foe.
Mirth obscene diverts his angerl Doubt and Pity oft perplex
Him in dealing with an issue-to the scandal of The Sex!

But the Woman that God gave him, every fibre of her frame
Proves her launched for one sole issue, armed and engined for the same;
And to serve that single issue, lest the generations fail,
The female of the species must be deadlier than the male.

She who faces Death by torture for each life beneath her breast
May not deal in doubt or pity-must not swerve for fact or jest.
These be purely male diversions-not in these her honour dwells.
She the Other Law we live by, is that Law and nothing else.

She can bring no more to living than the powers that make her great
And the Mother of the Infant and the Mistress of the Mate!
And when Babe and Man are lacking and she strides unclaimed to claim
Her right as femme (and baron), her equipment is the same.

She is wedded to convictions-in default of grosser ties;
Her contentions are her children, Heaven help him who denies-
He will meet no suave discussion, but the instant, white-hot, wild,
Wakened female of the species warring as for spouse and child.

Unprovoked and awful changes-even so the she-bear fights,
Speech that drips, corrodes, and poisons-even so the cobra bites,
Scientific vivisection of one nerve till it is raw,
And the victim writhes in anguish-like the Jesuit with the squaw!

So, it comes that Man the coward, when he gathers to confer
With the fellow-braves in council, dare not leave a place for her
Where, at war with Life and Conscience, he uplifts his erring hands
To some God of Abstract Justice-which no woman understands.

And Man knows it! Knows, moreover, that the woman that God gave him
Must command but may not govern-shall enthrall but not enslave him.
And She knows, because She warns him, and Her instincts never fail,
That the Female of the Species is more deadly than the Male

~ Kipling

It's called the "keep it in your pants" option, and is quite reliable.

One of the most common sense ideas on this whole board!

Maybe I'm living in a vacuum or something. I'm super eager for children (my wife is currently pregnant with twins, believe it or not), and 90% of the guys that I know who are married want more children. It's the women who are typically resistant, from what I've heard. They end up being the ones holding the men back, and not vice versa.

Is that not indicative of the current climate? Seems from these responses that the men are the ones who don't want children, while the women do.

Thank you. Little girls are kinda like puppies. They are real cute when they are little, but they grow up.

What if she unilaterally decides to go to a sperm clinic without telling the husband? Under the law in many states (see CF) he would STILL be the legal father.

Methinks this pill will be primarily for the unmarried partner.

If youre a married man and you have to take this pill because the wife is playing reproduction games, then both partners got some serious problems 'tween them!

>>>Woman #1: “My [husband, boyfriend, significant other] is selfish. He's on the pill and won’t get off. I’ve asked him to stop taking it but he always says he’s not ready. He just won’t grow up. I don’t know what to do.”

Woman #2: “That’s what the pill has given men—a right to be perpetual adolescents. It’s given them veto power over women who want to have children.” >>>

I find this horribly insulting. There are pig women who would trick a man into having a child, but that doesn't make all women that way.

Or as my Daddy used to teach us...."Son, Them females can run quicker with their skirts up, then you males can with your pants down"...

Let the irresponsible Lothario's have their fun. The serious family-oriented conservatives can be the only ones having kids ... works for me.

The example converstaion kind of reminded me of something that happened to an Army buddy of mine....He had a g/f who wanted to get pregnant by him. He knew it. One time he caught her emptying one of his used condoms into her...self in the bathroom. They fought about it and made up.

A week later when they were together again, he used a trick he heard about onthe radio. He went to the bathroom after they had been intimate, took an MRE bottle of tabasco (very small) and put some into the contents of the condom.

A few minutes later, she went to the bathroom. In just a few moments he heard the scream of pain. He left, and they never spoke again.

a common after the fact realization of women who pressure their husbands into vasectomys.

No pregnancy means one avenue of evidence is gone.

Good post. I don't know what women want, but I do know well enough never to wake the sleeping monster within. Well, I try not to, anyway. Always sems to happen somehow.

F.A. The ONLY thing I know for sure, is that they (women) are and shall always be smarter than us (men).

Since they have yet to develop a pill for women which has no side-effects, I'm a tad skeptical about this one.

There is one such pill - aspirin. The woman just has to hold it between her knees for it to have the desired effect! ;-P

LOL, me too, about a year after my 3rd & 4th were born.

I had a buddy who would walk around saying stuff like "Sperm free since'93!" He was kinda wierd to begin with, though.

To have and not have children can and does lead to breakups.

I found out a few years back that a collegue of mine divorced his wife (many reasons not just one) in part because she could not have children and she just could not deal with it.

This would give men AND women veto power.
