Bellevue, WA 98005CCRKBA CALLS REMARKS BY FORMER ATF OFFICIAL 'OUTRAGEOUS, SLANDEROUS'
For Immediate Release: April 19, 2005
An outrageous remark by a former official with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is "nothing short of slanderous," said leaders of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA).
Gerald Nunziato, former head of ATF's National Tracing Center and now a partner in Crime Gun Solutions, an anti-gun consulting firm, told the Houston Chronicle Sunday, "If it wasn't for criminals, there wouldn't be a gun industry in this country."
CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb fired back: "If it wasn't for remarks like Nunziato's, perhaps law-abiding American gun owners would not consider ATF an adversarial agency when it comes to Second Amendment rights. His comment is nothing short of slanderous. I guess in his opinion, we're all criminals."
Nunziato was in charge of the ATF's National Tracing Center from late 1991 through the end of 1998 under the Clinton Administration. He opposed the Lawful Commerce in Arms Act of 2004, and as far back as 2002, he was claiming to Bill Moyers in a PBS program called "Gun Land" that "Terrorists could come to this country and obtain firearms so easy ... We sell anything in this country. It's very easy to obtain weapons here from gun shows, pawn shops, straw purchases, relatives, through newspaper ads."
"Gerald Nunziato appears intent on spreading anti-gun hysteria with such remarks," said CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron. "It's no wonder why he is frequently quoted by anti gun rights extremists like Senators Dianne Feinstein and Frank Lautenberg, and the zealots at the Brady Campaign. It's disappointing that the Houston Chronicle published his remarks as though they were factual, when it is easily proven otherwise."
"Nunziato has admitted under oath," Gottlieb recalled, "in the California case against Arcadia Machine and Tool, Inc. that just because guns sold by specific dealers were eventually involved in crimes there could be no conclusive claim of wrongdoing without supporting data.
"We sincerely hope that Nunziato's statements do not reflect the philosophy of the ATF today," Gottlieb concluded. "This kind of anti-gun bigotry has no place in an agency that deals with firearms manufacturers, distributors, retailers and American gun owners on a daily basis."With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation's premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. The Citizens Committee can be reached by phone at (425) 454-4911, on the internet at www.ccrkba.org or by email to InformationRequest@ccrkba.org.

PING!
The ATF are a bunch of nazis and they all ought to be characterized as "former ATF"
Was this JBT involved in the Ruby Ridge debacle?
Sounds alot like Jackbooted Thugs to me.
aren't Nunziato and Norm Mineta lovers?
holy [deleted expletive]!
Holy crap!
yeah, that's a jaw-clanger, all right.
NOT that he'd say it in private to his cronies, but that he'd say it in the open and on the record like that.
So what I see from this POS grabber is a multitude of useful verse....
There will always be a need for firearms because there will always be criminals....even more with the way the ATF ambushes law abidding citizens with nit pik BS cosmetic gun laws. Thus they "create/manufacture" criminals per se....
Or citizens need guns because there "are" criminals....thus the industry is here..........to stay ........per this BatFag's reasoning.
Or as everyone here seems to read that "we" who use a firearm for selfdefense are "the" criminal element.....
Just a few ways but I think due this turdburglers past and present employers I don't think he was being nice at all.........phucm !
Not all ATF guys are grabboids like this jerk. But the scum sure do rise to the top.
And they wonder why so many of us want them unemployed. Unfortunately for them, if they DO succeed in making me a criminal for mere possession of a firearm they don't like, then I don't have much left to lose do I?
I agree to a point but for the most part to deal with a BatFageeeeeee is no less "dangerous" than having a pet rattlesnake. S/He'll bite ya when they want to.......
We worked with em in EOD and they treated us well but listening to em over time told me for the most part they are pretty much brainwashed reprobates. They'd bust their mother IMHO.....
They aren't the "ATF", they are the BATFE. They are a FLA (five letter agency), although they'd like to be a TLA (three letter agency) like FBI and CIA, but they aren't, and they hate that. They hate it even more when folks point it out. :)
They are the bottom of the barrel of federal law enforcement.
Sez it all for me.
I'll keep my .22 handy. That's all I have BATfags.
Deranged is when you agree with anything the BATF has to say regarding gun ownership in America. Let's change the name to something more appropriate, shall we: SS-BATF.
These are the goons (well paid, pensions, retirements, benefits, vacations, etc) that'll be kicking in your door when the order to confiscate all 'known' weapons comes from on-high. In today's information age, Hitler could only lick his lips at the prospects.
In some ways they are worse. The Nazies, including both SA and SS, never pretended to be anything other than what they were. BATFE pretends to be just another "law enforcement" agency. But in reality far to many of them are thugs. It probably comes from enforcing unconstitutional laws, but they don't just "enforce the law", they fold, bend and spindle it. They've sent folks to jail over owning fender washers and exhaust tubing (silencer components, even though possession of components, even real ones, is not defined in the law as being illegal, only silencers for which the applicable tax has not been paid. They wouldn't let you pay the tax on components if you tried) They've caused guns to malfunction and then charged the owners with possesion of unregistered machine guns. They lie under oath in court about the accurracy of their National Firearms registration list, which is abysmal.
So no, they are not Nazies, they are worse. They are a rogue agency with no place in a Constitutional Republic whose Constitution states "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". A Constitution which each and every agent swore to uphold and defend.
