Yup, you are 100% right - I never saw it that way - kudos to you on good insight.
I really do think Coulter is stuck in a stchik, much like Rodney Dangerfield's "I don't get no respect" routine. Eventually it starts to grow old
Maggie Gallagher is really good woman conservative writer IMHO. You ever read her?
She could stand a couple dozen Zingers, at least. Grow some curves, maybe?
Once or twice. I saw her on the tube once, and while she doesn't have AC's telegenic power, she talked sense. Her opponent looked very unprepared. I think they were talking marriage, during the gay marriage debate. I'd recommend her.
So for those of us who are Foxless, what the heck is her opinion of the photo? Why does she think they used it and so on. Can you elaborate?
Ann must have turned you down for a date sometime--every thread about her and you keep wanting to compare her to Victor Davis Hanson---WHY?
They don't even do the same thing---?
I have read VDH articles and I like them very much, but I also like Ann's articles also---can't you just enjoy Ann's commentary for what it is, witty, caustic and usually dead on right!!!
Actually, even though she is much prettier than that picture portrays, she still looks good. I would love to look that good.
I have to apologize for that last post to you---
I just read it again, and I am afraid that the debacle in the FRC this afternoon has put me not only into a bad mood, but has affected my ability to make sense, or spell correctly, or punctuate at all!!
Please, just forget that post, okay?
Ann Coulter really likes me in that picture. I can just tell.
Oh, I just saw your next post. All is forgiven... ;)
Nonsense.
However, in order to fairly appreciate Ms. Coulter, you need to read her books, not just her columns. And certainly, it is not fair to judge her by TV soundbites.
IMHO, her intellect and wit shine when she has the full context to develop a logical argument. The TV soundbite format is simply too restricted to do so, and she is smart enough not to try.
I have now read both "How to Talk to a Liberal", and "Slander". The semantic content of both is far above almost anything else I have read (with the exception of a physics textbook, but that has math). The only conservative that is on a par with her is Dr. Thomas Sowell, who is a true scholar.
Finally, Ann is considerably better educated than most pundits, including Limbaugh, as she has a law degree. The difference in education is apparent.
Someone photoshopped the time magazine cover with more "warm" lighting, making her skin look a more natural color, instead of pale. I think just with that change it looked perfectly fine.
With all due repect to Victor Davis Hanson and Rush Limbaugh, when it comes to doing battle with the liberal hordes face to face there is no one better than Ann Coulter. She is a fearless warrior.

As a photographer, I like the shot a lot.I don't see anything wrong with the picture other than I think they could have used warmer lighting.

I, too, would appreciate answers to these questions. Perhaps there are no answers. Perhaps the soundbites were so tiny, Ann could only get out two words before she was cut off. Or, perhaps she couldn't get out any understandable words at all because she was talked over. All these things, we will never know. Once again, Freepers, like Fox News, give us a teaser, and then leave us disappointed.
If I let my imagination run riot, though, I would say she castigated the magazine for their dishonesty. She might have said she contracted when asked to appear in their magazine to pick the photo, which she did, and then Time photoshopped it to make her look bad (I don't think she CAN look bad, just not as good).
However, all these things we will never know. We should be just be grateful the cover picture was posted for our viewing pleasure.
Actually, the first thing I thought of when I saw Ann's cover photo was that picture of Bill Clinton, you know the one where he was sitting on stool and his legs were spread? Makes me retch just thinking about it but it was the first thing that came to mind.
