I guarantee that soon, all automanufacturers will be required to install them in cars.

The New Mexico legislature considered such a bill last year. HB126 would have required blood-alcohol-sensing ignition interlocks on all new vehicles beginning in 2008, and on all used vehicles beginning in 2009. To my amazement, the bill was actually passed by the House 45-22. Fortunately, it did not reach the Senate before the legislative session ended. It likely will be back.
