New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is making a public point of standing by her indicted campaign aide David Rosen, who served as finance chairman for her 2000 Senate race.
"David Rosen worked hard for the campaign and we trust that when all the facts are in, he will be cleared," Mrs. Clinton's scandal lawyer, David Kendall said, in a statement released yesterday. "The Senate campaign committee has fully cooperated with the investigation." The top Democrat came to Rosen's defense the same day prosecutors revealed that Sen. Ted Kennedy's Brother-in-law, Ray Reggie, secretly taped Rosen on several occasions making "incriminating statements."
Reggie, who was cooperating with investigators as part of his plea bargain on bank fraud charges, wore a wire for three years as he arranged fundraisers for top Democrats, including the Clintons.
Party insiders were thought to be most concerned about Reggie's June 2000 overnight visit to the White House, where he reportedly stayed up late into the night "chatting" with the former first couple.
The New York Post reported Saturday that Reggie never taped Mr. or Mrs. Clinton, though he had ample opportunity to do so, with the paper citing unnamed sources for the assertion.
The claim doesn't comport with the account of another key witness in the case, Hollywood celebrity fundraiser Aaron Tonken, who said the same FBI agent who wired Mr. Reggie - David Smith - asked him to tape Hillary Clinton's phone calls.
Tonken spent copious amounts of time with the Clintons, helping to arrange an Aug. 2000 fundraiser with Mr. Rosen and visiting the White House seven times during the last three months of the Clinton administration.
Tonken agreed to the taping, but by then team Clinton learned he was talking to the FBI and refused to take his calls.
Yep, she's standing behind him with an ax, ready to make sure he doesn't decide to cut a deal with the prosecutors.

If that guy wore a wire for three years, he has got to have something incriminating on Hillbilly....
I wonder if she was getting a good laugh when that jerk came out with tapes of Bush's phone calls?
"Hon, I'm going to go for a walk in Ft. Marcy Park."
"OK David, just be careful of the snakes, and don't let any muggers get close to you."
Pray for W and Our Troops
Hope he has a real good life insurance policy.....
I give up, how many flippin scandal lawyers/lawsuits/impeachments/ WH theft/ disbarrment (Slick) situations has she and her husband been part of. Oh yeah, there are some Little Rock incidents...
What has really been on my mind the past couple of days is whether or not Ted Kennedy had any knowledge of what Ray Reggie was doing. Because if Kennedy was aware of this and did nothing, it would indicate that the "schism" among the 'Rats is far more serious than it appears.
Translation:
Rosen will be given the same option that the Clintons gave everyone else. He can either
A. Take the fall and go to prison; or
B. Take the Vince Foster/Ron Brown option.
It looks like Rosen was smart enough not to tell the Clintons that he was a target of a Federal investigation. He is still alive.
I am sure Kennedy knew---but I am sure he is all about first, covering his own expansive arse, protecting what is left of the Kennedy name, and hoping that it would go away like Chappaquidick did....
don't they all go away for the rich and famous, and the Clintons?
I don't think Kennedy would ever feel any allegience to Hillary unless it was against Bush, and it won't, unless Bush sics the Attorney General into more and closer charges to ole Teddy!!!!
They're telegraphing their moves! The trick for them must be to ensure that not all of the facts see the light of day.
"Don't y'all worry-when I become President, you'll be the first one I pardon!"
>>> "David Rosen worked hard for the campaign and we trust that when all the facts are in, he will be cleared," Mrs. Clinton's scandal lawyer, David Kendall said, in a statement released yesterday. <<<<
1. How can this statement from Hillary's lawyer be construed that Hillary is backing the guy.
2. We trust that when all the facts are in he will be cleard.-- That isnt backing anyone If the facts are in and he isnt cleared they will dump him and dump on him , Then they will claim they had no idea what he was doing.
3. Backing a person is coming right out and saying the guy did nothing wrong and I stand behind anything he did.
And how did "team Clinton" learn of this, exactly? Did a little FBI birdy tell them Tonken was wired?
What has really been on my mind the past couple of days is whether or not Ted Kennedy had any knowledge of what Ray Reggie was doing. Because if Kennedy was aware of this and did nothing, it would indicate that the "schism" among the 'Rats is far more serious than it appears. I've been wondering the same thing, and perhaps we got some indication today when I made up the fact that "Hillary spokesmen Louie and Eddie said they were sorry about what happened to Senator Kennedy's brothers. 'Be a shame if anything were to happen to him,' they stated." All seriousness aside, I suspect that the Justice Department would not put a wire on a guy and send him in to hobnob with high-level Democratic Party fundraisers unless at least one prominent Democratic politician were taken into confidence and told about it. To do otherwise would lead to later hoo-hah about "Republicans using the Justice Department to investigate Democrats for partisan political reasons." That said, the choice of Kennedy would be a no-brainer since he was related to the guy and is known to have no particular love for the Clintons. The fact that we are not already hearing screams from the media about a "partisan witch hunt" using the Justice Department and the FBI to "get" the Clintons tells me that this deal was pre-cleared with somebody who swings a pretty big bat in Democratic Party circles. |
Hillary is standing by this Aide so that she can be close enough to push the Aide off the cliff if needed.
They surely will find a way to hide the facts---
They just did this week with another investigation of Clinton people that cost you and I $10 million dollars.
The hiding of the investigation's results was actually an amendment to the Supplemental Emergency Spending Bill for Iraq, Afghanistan and tsunami aid---Sen. Kerry and Sen. Dorgan got it put on with a "unanimous constent request" so that WE wouldn't have a vote to watch and count on who voted to hide the results!!!!
The only way we have a chance with that investigation is if the House takes it out or Bush vetos the bill---
Therefore, if Hillbilly or Kennedy want to hide investigation results they were just shown how to do it...
