The military has not executed one of its own since 1961, while states have put scores of civilian killers to their deaths. Specialists say the key difference in military justice is the role of the president, who unlike a governor, must take an active role in signing off when a service member gets the ultimate punishment.

This is the perfect guy to start anew with.

The president won't be G.W. Bush. The military appeals process takes years. I think the US (combat)military service members have a somewhat different opinion now as to what should have happened to Akbar in the first place.

The last time there was a military execution was 44 years ago, when President Kennedy signed off on the hanging of Army Private First Class John A. Bennett for the rape and attempted murder of an 11-year-old Austrian girl.

AA pretty low-level perp compared to this one . . .

This is the guy that did this in the peaceful name of Islam.
The punishment should be beheading for him. Amen.

What irks me most about this is that the charges did not include treason. Akbar's diaries and comments about wanting to destroy the USA are on record. His actions disrupted a major American military formation's HQs & adversely affected its combat preparations.

In any event, he richly deserves the death penalty for the murders alone.

Based on the President's history as governor of Texas, I think we may see some of these guys "offed".

No need to formal execution. ALL the raghead needs is justice.THose of his unit ought roll grenades into his tent
"thou shalt not suffere a murderer to live. "IMO even in the corrupt false doctrine of Islam the murderer is not allowed the comfort of life when they have shed innocent blood. The murderer has not demonstrated anyhting beyond his
own fantasies -and hatred for those he enlisted to serve with.Roll grenades.

If GWB is still President when this case gets through the appeals process, allah needs to have 72 virginians ready to roll. Do they still shoot them in the military?

If Akbar is still alive on Jan. 21, 2009, he will never be executed...Hillary will commute his sentence or give him a pardon.
