It WAS a joke

BUT

I am alittle weary of all the male bashing that goes on.

Look at commercials. The male is ridiculed and the woman is calm, cool and collected and obviously "in charge".

Bush IS the President. I'd like to continue respecting him but when you ridicule someone if makes it more difficult to respect the person and not just the "office".

His wife appears to have a sense of humor. That's good. I believe she should continue to be funny but not let GW be the butt of her jokes. There are MANY things to laugh at. Pick something else.

She also ridiculed herself as a "desrperate housewife".

Well, being male AND a Christian, I was neither offended nor upset over the remarks. Men who are sure of their manliness are not afraid to laugh occasionally at their own shortcomings.

I agree there is too much male-bashing going on. Go read Dobson's "Bringing Up Boys" and you will see just how bad it is. (better yet, buy the video series and have a group viewing with discussions with parents of boys - our church did and it was a HUGE success!)

With that said, however, Mrs. Bush was at a traditionally lighthearted dinner where jokes abound. She was obviously having a little fun with her husband, who she praised at the end of her speech. We have all seen her other side, where she has stood by her man and supported her from the inside. A lot of folks have criticized her for doing just that. Now she is criticized for poking a little fun at him? He laughs at himself over his mispronunciations and slip-ups. If he can laugh at himself, why can't she laugh at him sometimes as well? My wife pokes fun at my shortcomings, but I never see it as "male-bashing".

He obviously wasn't upset at it, so I see no reason that I should be either. Frankly, I saw it more as a slap in the face of the President, VP & Rumsfeld's detractors than the men themselves.

Bottom line, they were jokes and the people they were directed at loved them. So did I.

Come on, Bush makes himself out to be the butt of his jokes.

Thank you. As far as I am concerned the "media" comprises 90% leftist who have their agenda to destroy this man. I ask you why you would attend such outings so they can ridicule & make fun of you on Monday. And who wants to hang around a bunch of liberals anyway? Since these elites all hob-nob with each other I see why Teddy Kennedy gets our EXTRA $11 Billion for what? Why NPR is still operating full throttle, Elton John & his lover get a sleep over at the WH one month after bashing Bush. Yet, this president can hob-nob with these sorts but allowing, let's say a Gary Bauer or a Tom Tancredo to be there doesn't happen. What day this week will we have another Bubba/GW photo?? How come the Washington Post has to deliver a remarkable story on Boulton & where were the so-called pubbies on this?? This "Two-Party Cartel" would have droped the judges - just as they did Pickering - if not for THE PEOPLE raising the issue & the same goes today. Let's have a day when we make fun of the Terry Morans of the world. See how these scum like it.
