Rush Limbaugh: It Takes a Village to Raise an Ugly Child

What is Hillary going to do? Hillary tried with her renowned national health care program, womb-to-the-tomb health care, that bombed out so she needs a new program, while Clinton is out there fighting childhood obesity. I found a story in the New York Times, right up Hillary's alley, she could fight childhood ugliness. The headline in the New York Times: Ugly Children May Get Parental Short Shrift. Well, this is made to order for Hillary because if you're going to go out there and fight childhood obesity, you've got to actually blame the parents and you've got to get on their case for being lousy. We have a story here saying that parents discriminate against their own kids based on their appearance, and ugly kids are ignored by their own parents than attractive and lovable and nice looking kids. Well, we can't have that kind of discrimination in this country, not based on ugliness. You know, we're going to have a whole classification of people called Uglo-Americans if we're not careful. Here's Mrs. Clinton perfect program: fight the discrimination against ugly children.

"Parents would certainly deny it, but Canadian researchers have made a startling assertion: parents take better care of pretty children than they do ugly ones. Researchers at the University of Alberta carefully observed how parents treated their children during trips to the supermarket. They found that physical attractiveness made a big difference. The researchers noted if the parents belted their youngsters into the grocery cart seat, how often the parents' attention lapsed and the number of times the children were allowed to engage in potentially dangerous activities like standing up in the shopping cart. They also rated each child's physical attractiveness on a 10-point scale. The findings, not yet published, were presented at the Warren E. Kalbach Population Conference in Edmonton, Alberta." So these people up in Canada have assigned themselves the arbiters of ugliness. They alone decide which kids scored what on a scale of one to ten in terms of ugliness. Well, are they going to give us some benchmark? Are they going to show us some pictures so we know who they think is ugly among babies? Frankly, I've always thought all human babies are ugly. No, I have. I'm just being honest with you.

I think humans are the one species that get much better looking as they get older. When you get your little pet kitten or puppy you hope they stay that way, they're cute as they can be. Sea turtles, when they hatch out of the eggs, cute little things. Babies, they're all fat, they're all pudgy, they all look like Winston Churchill. I've never had one of my own, so I know what you're saying, "You wouldn't say that if you'd had any of your own." But I mean they slobber all over you, they throw up all over you. There's nothing attractive about them. So I want to know what these people did to come up with their benchmark here. I'm talking about infants. When you get to two or three years old, okay. You might be able to make a claim that a human offspring is starting to acquire attractiveness. I actually may have to wait till five or six, sometimes ten or 12 in women's cases because you don't know till then, but even that's a little early. You can't tell. You seriously can't tell. Snerdley can't believe this. I'm just being honest. I'm not going to hold back on this. The New York Times started it, ugly children may get parental short shrift. The obvious conclusion is that some people are admitting there are ugly kids out there. I'll bet you a lot of people agree with me. They'd never say it. Yeah the human baby, it's a wonderful thing, it's a miracle, don't misunderstand me but I mean in terms of how it's going to look later on, there's no comparison.

I'll tell you what, if you have a little two-year-old running around do you want it looking like that when it's 50? You have your little baby that's six months old, do you want it looking like that when it's 35? No way, you don't, but when you have your little puppy or kitten, don't you hope and pray it always looks like that? Don't you? Admit it, folks, admit it, you do. Just another thing that makes the human species unique, I think. Get this. Also from the story, "Homely children--" Homely is just another word for ugly, for those of you in Rio Linda. "Homely children were also more often out of sight of their parents, and they were more often allowed to wander more than 10 feet away." So the uglier the kid the less the parents want the kid around. "Age - of parent and child - also played a role. Younger adults were more likely to buckle their children into the seat, and younger children were more often buckled in. Older adults, in contrast, were inclined to let children wander out of sight and more likely to allow them to engage in physically dangerous activities." If you add the fact that they're ugly to that, then the parents really... "You want to go out their kid, take their chances, go ahead." But they don't do that with their pretty kids, their pretty babies.

"Dr. W. Andrew Harrell, executive director of the Population Research Laboratory at the University of Alberta and the leader of the research team, sees an evolutionary reason for the findings: pretty children, he says, represent the best genetic legacy, and therefore they get more care." And of course ugly kids get the opposite, the worst of the genetic legacy. Ugly kids remind parents how ugly they are, they blame it on themselves, it's their genes. No wonder, this research is ground breaking. But it's made to order for Hillary.

You see the discrimination that exists out there? We know what happens to the ugly kids in shopping centers and grocery stores. We've had these stories over the years, you know, you'll have a mother start whacking her kid in there and the citizen will make an arrest and the social workers will come and haul the kid away. What nobody knew then, what nobody said then, was that it was an ugly kid. Mothers are not spanking or disciplining their beautiful children but the ugly do sort of come in for more abuse. It's right here in the New York Times. Well, I think if they're going to do research on this where it comes to children you do have to look at the effects -- I mean if this happens with children, why wouldn't it happen with adults? Well, I think yes, there's no question there's a total discrimination against the ugly, Mr. Snerdley. He just asked me if the ugly get worse health care. You know, imagine an ugly person going in to see the doctor and you got a pretty person sitting in the waiting room. Who do you think is going to get to see and spend more time with the doctor? These are things that need to be looked into and I want to thank the New York Times, ladies and gentlemen, for daring to break the ice on this. As good journalists, as they are at the New York Times, they have gone out and found critics. I mean, this is not just a one way story. "Not all experts agree. Dr. Frans de Waal, a professor of psychology at Emory University, said he was skeptical. 'The question,' he said, 'is whether ugly people have fewer offspring than handsome people.'" He's not denying that there are ugly people, he's just saying ugly people may know it's not worth it to have kids because, you know, in terms of genetics and legacies sustaining the ugly line of their bloodline, so they have fewer kids out there than handsome people do. "I doubt it very much. If the number of offspring are the same for these two categories, there's absolutely no evolutionary reason for parents to invest less in ugly kids." But it's happening. The survey says it's happening even though this guy can't find any evolutionary reason for it.

"Dr. Robert Sternberg, professor of psychology and education at Yale, said he saw problems in Dr. Harrell's method and conclusions, for example, not considering socioeconomic status," and therefore their ugly kids don't look as ugly. Now, he didn't say that, but that's what he means. Wealthy kids can get nicer clothes, even the ugly wealthy kids, nicer clothes, get better haircuts, and they just don't look as ugly as the children of the poor look. "But Dr. Harrell said the importance of physical attractiveness 'cuts across social class, income and education. Like lots of animals, we tend to parcel out our resources on the basis of value,' he said. 'Maybe we can't always articulate that, but in fact we do it. There are a lot of things that make a person more valuable, and physical attractiveness may be one of them.'" So, you know, I'm taken back to Undeniable Truth of Life Number 24: Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society. It was right then when I wrote it in 1987, and it continues to be validated today in the New York Times of all places. So Bill can worry about childhood obesity, just don't swallow, and Hillary can take up the cause of the discrimination against ugly children in America. And that's how we do things here, we care, we find issues for people, assign them to fix them based on their professed ability and previous experiences to succeed.

I've know some very unappealing young parents who produced kids with model-looks.

Rush is great. And he has it made, from a program production viewpoint, since the far-left is an INFINITE SOURCE OF MATERIAL. The reprobates of the left continue to amaze the world with their stupid ideas, their moronic assertions and lies, and their rabid quest for power and control. Between them, and their puppy-dog accomplices in the MSM, it is an infinite sideshow of freaks and stupidity.

If Rush could be on the air, 24 and 7, he would NEVER run out of material.

womb-to-the-tomb health care

In Hillary's world, for many an unborn child, the womb is a tomb.

Today's show was superb. There wasn't a lot of big "news" to cover, so it was just pure Rush.

That works equally well in reverse. I've known some physically beautiful parents who had absolutely ugly kids.

Nah, she'll just push abortion more - if you are ugly you'll have ugly kids or if that doesn't play well she'll suggest that if the kid is 12 or younger then euthanasia is the route to take courtesy of YOUR money.

Seriously. she might advocate plastic surgery for the kid to make them more attractive so they won't have to got through life unattractive. Never mind that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Same here.

Couple, both had dark hair, dark eyes and had a BEAUTIFUL baby boy with blond hair and blue eyes. It turned out that a father of the Dad had blond hair and blue eyes. You never know what will happen. It's playing the odds. They often joke about him saying the "mailman" is the Dad - LOL!

One thing ugly people can do to limit the effect or make it less noticable is to drive cars uglier than they are. Volvos used to be superb for that purpose but the newer ones are starting to look like more normal cars these days. They seem to have recruited their latest generation of designers from Japan or Italy.

Wrong!
Good looking kids are mostly stupid, they have it made, they don't have to work at anything.

Ugly kids know about their handicap and work hard at acquiring skills so they can make it in life.

Another stupid "research".

It is really up to the parents how they bring the kids up. My kids will always be beautiful regardless how they look. It is what they DO that counts. Beauty is only skin (and scalpel) deep.
