No, if you mean the Canal Zone, the birth certificates were kept in the basement of the Canal Zone Administration Building (located in Balboa Heights). The entire building was built with reinforce concrete. There was once an electrical fire on the second floor where some renovations were being done. Some carpets and furniture were charred beyond recognition but not much more. Most of the damage was from the water being thrown onto the fire.

No, this was in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. I’ll find out soon as I just ordered my certificate on line ($17 total). PA finally entered the 21st Century.

The certified copy of my birth certificate arrived a few days ago. I was surprised to see that it doesn’t include my parent’s names. I thought that was on all birth certificates. Either Pennsylvania excludes them, or I have no parents.
