May 8, 2005 — Brazilians, Central Americans and others are expected to overtake Mexican nationals as the largest group of undocumented immigrants entering the Rio Grande Valley.

Although some federal authorities said the demographic shift has already happened, figures given to The Brownsville Herald this month show the number of OTM (Other Than Mexicans) immigrants detained in Deep South Texas has exploded in the last two years but remains slightly behind the number of Mexican nationals.

I don't understand the Brazilian impetus. That's a real country with a real economy. And it's a heck of a long way way from our border.

It's not a real country and a real economy for a lot of people, just the high toned elite. That's how many latin countries are set up, like a fiefdom.

"Brazilians, Central Americans and others are expected to overtake Mexican nationals as the largest group of undocumented immigrants entering the Rio Grande Valley." We emptied Mexico already? - So we are moving on to empty SA!

"I thought the Mexicans had a strong force on their southern border to stop these folks from traveling through Mexico to get here."

The only ones that get stopped are the ones who can't pay the bribes.

Court figures show that more than 88 percent do not return. Nathan Selzer with the Valley Movement for Human Rights said the Valley might have been identified as a “weak spot” for human smugglers.

We still need a few thou acres behind barbed fence and razor wire to detain these otms and mexicans. Give them 12 to 18 months behind the prison walls b efore they see an immigration judge might make their native country look better to them.
Our economy can surely absorb 10s of thousands of legal immigrant workers but 100s of thousands of illegals are out of the question.
Work here legally or stay home!

I guess they are just passing through. For some reason, I think most just walk across the bridges. Mexico is so corrupt that they are probably selling them visas and fake drivers licenses. I have yet to see anyone fingerprinted at the border. Unreal.

I'll check in a couple of weeks, but I don't think anyone is fingerprinted at the Progresso, Reynosa, nor Matamoros bridges. Just show a drivers license and you have it made.

88% do not return for hearings?

Only 12% show up?

I'd say it is time to tell President Bush - the Republicans - and the democrats - in Congress - and the IRS

That 12% is the top income tax rate that you will pay the federal government.

88% of your state and city income taxes bill should be deducted from what you send the state and city revenue services alo.

Defund the greedy bastards until they get 100% efficiency and stop illegal aliens they allow in invade and sty here illegally

If the feds, states, cities can "pick & choose" or "cherry-pick" the laws they wish to obey and enforce -

Then we honest American citizens demand equal treatment under the 14th Ammendment to the US Constitution -

If illegal aliens are "people of the USA" according to Congress, Judges, bureaucrats, state and local politicians -

Then we demand an "enen playing field" -

Either be satisfied with only 12% of income, sales, and property taxes in the future -

Or American citizens will all a start demanding and excercising the rights of illegal aliens -

Transactions and pay that is "Off the books" - "under the table" - "underground economy"

- It's coming SCOTUS - you opened the door -

I've already heard of some America citizens representing themselves as foreigners and speaking Spanish and demanding cash pay from employers

What can they get charged with if the feds, states, locals ignore the 14th Ammendment?
