Republicans were particularly outraged when Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat and a member of the Judiciary Committee, referred to Justice Owen and other Bush nominees as "neanderthal."

OMG, I never heard about this. Coming out of Kennedy's mouth, this kind of quote could keep Rush Limbaugh busy for months!

Thanks for that.
I only wish I had the patience of Karl Rove and George W. Bush.

"Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist plans for Texas Supreme Court Justice Priscilla Owen to be the judicial nomination on which he uses the "nuclear option" against Democratic filibusters later this month,; according to Republicans familiar with his plans.

Do it NOW!

Why wait?

I'm sorry folks. At this point, with all that has gone on (and has been said or "floated") in the past couple of days by the likes of RINO, Hagel, "has-been" Lott and a few others, I am "concerned" (scared sh*tless, more like it) that if Frist waits much longer, it will simply give the opposition more time to demagogue this issue and create more mischief; witness the Bolton hearings.

What I'm even more worried about is that Frist does NOT have the votes.

If one adds up the RINOS, there is reason to be scared: John McSwine; Chuck Haggg-le; Olympia Snowe-job; Susan Call-ins; Lincoln Chaff-eeeee.

That makes 5.

Now we add the semi-Rino, "weak" Pubes: Specter, Voin-a-bitch and one that does not get much press, but has made some troubling comments, Lisa Murkowski, Alaska, then that adds up to a possible 8 "defecting turncoats" and a definite defeat.

To which I say: "Go ahead, 'traitors,' make our day;" and yours are numbered!

At least we will know who stands where and we can plan to work toward their defeat in 06/08. I know, I know. Not likely, but its nice to dream. LOL

Believe me, I know what its like. Living in Vermont and having had to put up with the Numero Uno RINO of all time-- Jumpin Jim.

Of course now, my prognostication is these libs/dims/socialist up here will elect Bernie (the "avowed" socialist) Sanders. (Read my tag--18 days and a wakeup).

Moreover, I started quite a while ago (even though I gave up my official R standing back in 75, I still contribute to individuals and occasionally to the Party) sending "empty" envelopes when asked for contributions with a little "note" enclosed therein, explaining why no one will get another dime from me until the Pubes grow a spine!!!

Lastly, I'm going to keep asking this question, until someone comes up with an answer we can use against the dims (although we'll never see the MSM portray it as such) and that is: "WHY ARE THERE ONLY RINOS AND NO DINOS?"

Then let the "compromise" be to force actual filibusters. A minority of 41 can have endless debate IF those 41 senators continuously hold the floor, without disruption. If one of them leaves even for a minute (excepting say, 5 minute potty breaks, to preserve the dignity of the senate chamber), the presiding officer can order the debate ended.

Let's see how long Barbara Boxer will put up with sleeping in a cot on the senate floor, right next to a snoring Robert Byrd.

Until Dr. Frist pulls the trigger, the RNC, NRSC, or any other national Republican organization will not get one dime from me.

What a wonderful benifit for the rats. The rats behave like criminals and the GOP punishes their own legislators. We are truely the stupid party. Not because of the GOP Representives...It's the GOP contributors who make us the stupid party. Hope you like rat representatives...because that is what you are going to elect. RWR8189...Super Genius. What you really need is an ACME bat suit.

There is nothing "semi" about it. They are complete RINOS...actually, i think the word republican has lost so much of it's conservative clout.

sad to say, nowadays the word republican is more and more descriptive of gutless, clueless, lukewarm center-to-left politicians and voters.

The more accurate term to describe the named republicans is CINOs.

..."WHY ARE THERE ONLY RINOS AND NO DINOS?"

rats are more dedicated to evil than republicans are to good.

If Frist cannot command 50 votes in a caucus of 55 to uphold the Constitution then what we have is a failure of leadership, and he needs to be replaced.

As far as I'm concerned the constitutional option is a vote of confidence for Frist and whatever future he aspires to.

I'm not saying I'll sit on my hands on election day, just withold those fat checks I have given to GOP over the years until they show some leadership. I have no GOP senators to contribute to at home, so right now my only outlet is the NRSC.

I don't think I'm asking for much, just an up or down on judicial nominees as required by the Constitution.

There is no way to "force" actual filibusters unless 60 Senators agree to the rules change. Won't happen.

Would you be happier with 45 solid Republicans 45 solid rats and 10 DINOs? There are no DINOs because we have sucessfully moved them to the GOP column. It is sad that we must endure Specter's, Chafee's, Snow's and so forth but it is better than having 10 Lieberman's

Was Teddy really expelled from Harvard for cheating? I've NEVER heard of this before today. Can anyone provide documentation? Now, I know it doesn't rival his manslaughter of Mary Jo, but it might catch on with the younger crowd. We should hammer him with this fact, if it is so.

OR ME AND MY ENTIRE EXTENDED FAMILY!

Neither will they get my vote, I refuse to support those within the Republican Party who act like eunuchs (these guys are giving eunuchs a bad name). They are gutless wonders who only seem to care about themselves, THEIR "positions," their "power" and their "prestige". I plan to sit out the next election unless they get with the program and stand up for the rule of law and what is constitutionally right.

Why bother voting for these guys/clowns/weak-kneed rabbit, jelly fish and putting them into power when they refuse to ACT like men in power or the majority?

"WHY ARE THERE ONLY RINOS AND NO DINOS?"

Mainly because we have taken most of the seats from states that used to elect conservative dems. The Republican Party still has a northeastern wing, however shaky. The dems no longer have a southern wing to speak of, at least in the Senate. Zell Miller was the exception that proves the rule.

More broadly, the dems have abandoned the middle class on cultural and economic issues. To the extent that they get middle class voters -- and they do -- it's on the basis of identity politics and special interest appeals. This is why issues like school choice, social security, and health reform are radioactive to the 'rats. On each of these classic wedge issues, the GOP is speaking directly and constructively to the average rank-and-file voter, regardless of party. All the 'rats can do lie in increasingly hysterical terms.

Sooner or later, a few of the smarter democrats will figure this out and act on it. For example, we are reaching the point where everyone in the country brighter than a cabbage and with a decent job has an IRA or 401(k). How long can the 'rats go on treating personal investment accounts in Social Security as anathema?

Not long.

I'll believe it when I see it.

If the parties changed places and the dems were in majority, with Repubs filisterbustering, they would use it in an eye blink.
