Walmart bashing checklist:
1) Driving out manufacturing jobs
2) Building up the "ChiCom" military
3) Don't pay any benefits and low wages
4) Drive out all the "mom and pop" stores
5) Only store selling goods made in China
6) steal land from people to build stores
Let's see how fast all these union talking points can develop.
so far in the less than 50 posts on this topic, the only one not hit on was #6. Koblenz hit most of them in one post.
Remember - the best use of an American's time and talents is stamping plastic picture frames out of molds. That's the kind of rich, rewarding career that Wal-Mart's sourcing policies destroy.
Remember also that it is illegal for a Wal-mart employee to seek a higher paying job or a job with more benefits.
Keep in mind that mom-and-pop stores usually pay $50-100 per hour to their employees and provide them with full health insurance benefits and pensions. That's why so many people are lined up to get sweet jobs in corner bodegas.
What cracks me up most is all the bashing over made-in-China products. IIRC some figures released last year showed that about 5% of their revenue was spent in China which begs the question of where the other 95% is being spent.
Another interesting observation I've made over the last year- Wal-Mart in Canada sells more Canadian-made merchandise than their biggest competitor (which happens to be Canadian-owned).
My list for not shopping at Walmart: 1. Cheap cr*p (not talking about price) 2. Dirty store 3. No one to help you 4. If found, employee knows nothing aboiut products. 5. Long checkout line at the couple of cash registers that are actually opened.
