I have a feeling her case is going to collapse when the third party (a used-book dealer in PA) enters the fray, investigates things on their end, and can somehow establish that the Quran left their place unmarked.

Personally, I can't think of anyone more likely to fake a "hate crime" than a foreign, Muslim, female, university graduate student in an identity-politics department. The female factor generates unquestioning acceptance of outrageous claims by the media, and all the other factors point up to institutions and subcultures that regularly distort or destroy truth in the pursuit of poitical aims.
