Joe Tobul waves to me while taxing out for take off...I had a great spot away from the crowd, near the hangars,
when the B-17 and B-24 taxied by their left wings passed over my head..
He did about 10 high speed passes along with a P-40N; my battery packs were dead from all the filming I did that day, so I got on the roof of my house with an extension cord, one advantage of living right next to an airport(!).
I was able to witness firsthand the Corsair live up to it's nickname "Whistling Death" ; quite a contrast with the P-40's
silky smooth Allison, and the raucous Packard Merlin in the P-51D "Obsession" I also filmed..
A friend in Cola called me after the the Nov. 2002 crash, I was devastated; I haven't watched this tape in quite a while..brings back a lot of memories.
